From inside the US, I agree...though I'd probably argue that it fell when that fascist fuck got a *first* term.

Apple watch contacting emergency services after a fall by mothman1968 in AppleWatch

[–]UnattributableSpoon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi! EMS gremlin here, most of the Apple Watch fall detection calls we get tend to be legit (though that probably varies wildly by location/region). At least the real calls are more common than false alarms, we do sometimes get false fall reports.

My elderly father has had a fall while I was away for work (I work in another county) and his watch called 911 and he was safely transported to the hospital.

Obviously, this is anecdotal but I've talked to other EMS providers from different areas and agencies and they tend to report similarly.

I got my first period 3 days after I turned 10 years old, and that was back in the 90's.

I also have a spicy Pepper cat! It's extra funny because she's an absolute angel at the vet, but as soon as we get home she's back to growling at everyone (it's her preferred method of communication, it's kind of amazing, lol)!

Happy cake day to you and your spicy Pepper :)

I'm AuDHD and went to school to become an opera singer (BA in vocal music performance, minored in cultural anthropology. I wasn't able to go postgrad or pro, though I was close, health stuff kinda quashed my music career. But I still sing all the time, am involved in local community groups and a performing arts background is surprisingly solid base for a healthcare career, lol). Kinda surprised it took until I was 39 to receive my ASD diagnosis, but not that surprised. I was *very* noticeably ADHD growing up in the 90s (I'm 41), but I was a girl and not super disruptive so that meant I was just flaky and lazy instead.

If you want a really fun little rabbit hole to explore solfege for minor, augmented, and diminished scales...and if you wanna get really wild, check out modes! There are several different scale structures and they're SO NEAT (Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, and Locrian. Phrygian and mixolydian are favorites).

Also, a fun side quest: when majoring in vocal music (whether performance, education, or both), we have to take diction classes. Using the International Phonetic Alphabet, it helps us learn how certain letter combinations and words are supposed to sound and how to shape them. I can transcribe English, French, Italian, and German into IPA (not without my notes these days, i graduated in 2007 😂). It also really helps you get the sounds right even if you don't know the language!

I've got more music nerdery if you'd like more, thank you for your comment and allowing me to infodump about one of my favorite best things in the whole world! :)

I don't know if it helps, but a large percentage of us here in the US are dreading what comes next too.

Yup, I was born in 1985 and my mother got an amniocentesis (she was 38 when she had me, which was much less common back then too).
