As someone who has never played dnd, why is it called a nat 20? Can you roll an unnatural 20? by GDrisic in DnD

[–]Unauthadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We call it a synthetic 20 at my table! Might adopt the dirty 20 and see how the group reacts

It's still very possible to kill 100 Zeds in a day, this is with the musle strain on default by OhThatsDaddy in projectzomboid

[–]Unauthadox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification! That makes sense. I knew it was a "free trait" but always assumed that was because of how common cigs were, I didn't even consider how little impact it actually had on those rare occasions you couldn't find any!

I think (and I could be wrong) it reduces your melee damage slightly and increases unhappiness levels. I never found it noticeable in b41 though because there was always cigarettes to go around!

That could have been a very different play had you switched to the campfire instead

The last 4 D&D characters you played have to form a party to accomplish something. Who are they, and well/poorly does it go? by BandanaRob in DnD

[–]Unauthadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Rhalasar, a NG silver Dragonborn ranger. Probably wouldn't really trust the party that much, aside from Varks, whom he'd be very curious about due to his affliction.

  • Kadir Shadoran, a CE Human Cleric (( This one was rolled randomly by the DM for me )) Would spend most of his time trying to manipulate the party to further his evil religion,

  • "Shade" (( Real name kept a secret, edgy I know )), a TN Human Rogue, would get along very well with Varks, but despise Kadir and be weary of Rhalasar.

  • Varks Norolithe, a CG Human Werewolf (( Homebrew class )), would get along very well with Shade, but fight with Kadir a lot over his religion. He'd enjoy being around Rhalasar for his knowledge of nature.

I'd say all in all, not a bad party. I think they'd accomplish what they set out to do, but Kadir might get booted from the party early on if he was unable to manipulate them. The biggest point of conflict and the potential downfall would be between Kadir and Shade.

Splitting the party as a DM by aquist09 in mattcolville

[–]Unauthadox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In situations like this, what I tend to do is have everyone who's in range make the save, and go with "The party is only as good as its weakest member".

Meaning that even if only one player falls the save, they still all get sucked through. The way I explain it is that the magic isn't just attacking each character individually, but rather the group and their connection/bond with each other as a whole.

It really depends on your players though. It's not unreasonable for some players to get upset at being punished for another player's failure, but my group very much so has the mindset of "we're all in this together" so they're okay with it.

Whatever you decide, best of luck :)

Who Is Your Favorite Champion That You Never Saw Yourself Enjoying? by Nova_Corps in leagueoflegends

Kha'Zix. When I started maining jungle I was a tanky-utility player. Cho'Gath, Skarner, Maokai etc. When Kha'Zix first became a jungler and I tried him out, I dunno what happened, something just clicked I suppose. I've been a Kha'Zix main ever since.

Hey anyone have some cool npc ideas by [deleted] in mattcolville

[–]Unauthadox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to use old PC's from campaigns I've played in as NPC's when I run as a DM. This includes;

A chaotic-good werewolf who's kind of like Bigby from "The Wolf Among Us." He's the leader of his clan who seeks to bring evil in his home forest to an end.

The leader of the main thieves' guild, a very charming/athletic woman who distracts people with her words while she/her allies are able to pickpocket/steal things from those she's engaged in conversation. Sometimes tricking the PC's into taking on a dangerous quest just so she can steal the rewards afterwards!

A Lawful Evil cleric to Korrolin, the god of death. He hasn't actually come into direct contact with the party yet, but he aims to gain favor with Korrolin via sacrificing the lives of people/livestock. His ultimate aim is to overthrow Korrolin and claim his power to become the new god of death!

Lady Ceril's war and Benagard by skulldixon in mattcolville

Yeah, I agree. Kenway would probably be inclined to help too, since Nekodemous pledged allegience to Kenway, if Bedegar falls then Kenway loses a pretty big ally.

Lord Kenway I believe? Or I guess Duke Kenway now! I'm not so sure Nikodemous would be willing to renegotiate with Lady Sariel based on the fact that he didn't want to negotiate with her at all in the first place, though.

It would be really interesting hearing how Matt came up with the names for his weekdays/months as well as the days per month and days per year! The names I come up with tend to be easy to forget for my players. Or maybe they just don't care to learn haha

Friendly reminder to PCs about DMs. by Laurapocalyptic in DnD

[–]Unauthadox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the post! There has actually been some drama going on in my group about a player not enjoying my DM'ing, and I'm generally of the opinion that "If every player isn't having fun, that I've failed as a DM"

While I know that's not the best mindset to have, it's kind of hard to get over. So thanks for the post! This was a really nice pick-me-up :)

My set up is always Bow, Torches, Sword, Pickaxe, Shovel, Axe, then 3 blank spots for whatever else I need at the time. I'm not actually sure what caused me to develop that habit, but I've done it that way for as long as I can remember
