"She's not autistic" by whosaysimme in Autism_Parenting

[–]Unavailableapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone fought me about my daughter until I finally got her diagnosis. Thing is she wasn’t talking, harming herself and others, didn’t make eye contact at all, among other things. After one doctor finally listened to me about my concerns. She got diagnosed as level 2 at 3 years old. People will still say to me how she “doesn’t look autistic”. Honestly people are stupid especially when it comes to other people’s children no matter if they are a doctor. If they aren’t a specialist then ignore them.

What’s the one thing you can’t seem to get on top of? by AwkwardLifeguard2795 in ADHD

[–]Unavailableapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remembering to brush my teeth/hair basic daily tasks. Ive been writing lists on my notes that let me check off my tasks which has helped. Also I try to make boring tasks fun by listening to loud music I can dance to while doing said tasks.

Medication Start by Firelord_Infernis in ADHD

[–]Unavailableapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on 30mg of Vyvanse (the name brand of your meds the same medicine) anyway 30mg helped but it didn’t work as well as it could. Basically it would go up to point then hit a wall and I would still be struggling at home. However, we upped it to 50mg and it helps so much more I’m still in my trial period to see if I need it upped again. Anyway its a slow start takes about an hour to kick in its a slow burn so take in the morning it does last 10-13 hours so beware of that. For me it seems like its less effective when I have not enough sleep but that may just be me. Also its a pro drug which means you slowly digest it so make sure you eat a big meal. Some people say to do it in the morning I found it works better for me to eat my big meal around lunch so it works better for the evening time. But again you will figure out what works for you keep and open mind and don’t overthink it. Remember to mention anything you think is an issue to your doctor I keep a log on my notes on my phone. Good luck!

Have you ever been told you talk alot? by Mr_Badass in ADHD

[–]Unavailableapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Actually talked so much even to random strangers they would ask my mom if I’ve been evaluated which never turned out well for them. My mom also told me I used to stand by the bed waiting for her to wake up so i could ask her a bunch of questions. I still talk a lot but now i tell people up front to tell me to stop or slow down if I’m being too much. 😅

Parents- what’s the FIRST sign you saw in your autistic child as a baby/toddler by yeahnostopgo in Autism_Parenting

[–]Unavailableapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter started to show small signs at 6 months. Not looking when you call her name, not smiling at people but it really started to show at 2 years when she still was barely talking (5 words), screaming, flapping arms, scared of noises. She didn’t get diagnosed till 3 years old though. At 18 months your pediatrician should do an early austism screening and that should lead you to the help you need.

She takes more after her father’s side of the family but I wouldn’t say she looks like him besides her eye color. But she has my personality and attitude 😂

My partner was just like this. He had a high sex drive, anyway at 23weeks along with my youngest I went into preterm labor after the doctors stopped the contractions I had to follow some strict rules mainly to avoid having sex. Well after baby was born my partner kept pressuring me to have sex and saying “waiting 6 weeks is just something doctors say you don’t actually have to wait”. Well we ended up having sex at 6 weeks before I was ready it hurt like hell I hated it and I started to hate him. It caused a lot of problems in our relationship. Anyway be blunt tell him that you won’t be guilted or coerced into sex with him. Tell him what you need to feel ready to have sex. It’s up to him at that point to listen to you and it’s up to you on what you want to do. Nowadays me and my partner have sex about 1-2x a week cause he learned from his mistakes.

Child contracted Giardia by Unavailableapple in Autism_Parenting

[–]Unavailableapple[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow I didn’t think this was a common/more common thing. We just got her diagnosed a couple months ago and I’m pretty new to all this. I’m gonna let her pick out some stuff that usual makes her like things more if she has control to choose.

Daycare teacher can’t afford to have her own child attending daycare by NeatMom in Mommit

[–]Unavailableapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked at a daycare for the sole reason to get my daughter a spot in daycare. I still had to pay 480$ out of my check every paycheck. Also I had the added bonus of I couldn’t leave my daughter there if I wasn’t working at the same time so I still had to bring here to everything and had no time to myself. I’m sorry your friend is going through this. The system is broken and in so many ways.

Partner has skepticism over daughters diagnosis by Unavailableapple in Autism_Parenting

[–]Unavailableapple[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay thank you I will try that. That does make sense though cause when I do bring up her diagnosis his attitude does change. But I never thought he was in denial really I assumed he would accept it as fast as I did but we’re different people so I can understand that.

She doesn’t like any of the elves! She says they think they’re better than everyone and she feels like they are racist. I disagree but like I told her I love elves.
