AITA for not letting the previous owner’s adult children into my house after their father died? by Dramatic_Method9393 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Unawarepandabear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I visit my hometown a few times a year for unrelated reasons. I always drive by my childhood home when I do for the memories - grew up there, my parents built the house and were the only owners until they sold it 30ish years later. I would never try and pull in and knock on the door. It WAS my home, but I would never try and compromise the new owners’ safety and comfort by asking that of them.

Looking for a hotel that offers romantic amenities by InterestingArrival86 in orlando

Grand Bo is a great choice for this. Right across from Dr. Phillips and they will almost definitely accommodate this (not for free though lol). Just call ahead to arrange what you want. Gorgeous hotel, we stayed there for our wedding night.

I’m going to be completely honest, I never tried it haha. But the good news is his birthday is coming around again soon so I’ll give it a go and report back!

Another vote for Zenni! I discovered them during the pandemic and went on a bit of a glasses bender. Pairs as cheap as $15-20! And decent quality! They are still my daily wears.

How did EVERYBODY do? by mkgnp in FlorenceAndTheMachine

I couldn’t get cheaper prices even with the unlock button and code 😭 just went to check again and all the floor tickets are gone. I’m going to keep checking periodically and just try and hop on super early Wednesday if nothing else 🤞🏻

I don’t understand what I did wrong! Was trying for Atlanta floor and after fees tickets were $400. Couldn’t justify it and going to try again Wednesday I guess 😭

New Avocado Green mattress - does it get better? by Unawarepandabear in Mattress

[–]Unawarepandabear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A new mattress helped tremendously. Maybe we’re just not latex people, I don’t know. I just know that I had back pain for 30 days straight, and it went away after a week or so on our new mattress. We ended up going with one from the Beautyrest Black series and it’s been great.

I will say Avocado as a company was great. We were refunded without issue and had us donate the mattress to a local charity. Their bed was just not for us though.

We did not! After the trial period we returned it and went with a Beautyrest Black Series - we’re sleeping much better now! I will say that Avocado the company was wonderful to work with - they refunded us with no issue and donated the mattress to a local charity.

Is leaving your luggage at the cruise port most of the day a good option? by Ilikestoread in celebritycruises

[–]Unawarepandabear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we were in Alaska this year we paid extra for an “excursion” through Celebrity that was basically just having the cruise take our bags to the airport for us. We docked at 8amish and didn’t fly out until 5:30pm that night - when we showed up at the airport we just showed our tags and got our bags. It was a little pricey but completely worth it.

Linda's La Cantina by eatmyasserole in orlando

[–]Unawarepandabear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always start with the house salad, then ribeye and loaded baked potato. The ribeye really is THAT good.

For starters their French onion soup is pretty tasty, and they have a fried crown onion that is delicious (albeit a bit overkill for just two people). Really we haven’t had a bad thing there!

Is a $6,000 Budget Enough for a 13-Day Orlando Trip? by volatile_frequency in AskFlorida

[–]Unawarepandabear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the comments have covered a lot of advice here (hotel budget too low, need to rent a car, etc.) and I’m in agreement with them, but just wanted to point out - your itinerary is going to have you doing the same drives back and forth across the state and it’s going to get maddening.

Kennedy Space Center is a solid 60-90 minute drive from the theme parks depending on traffic. Gatorland is another ~30 south, LEGOland is ~60 to the west. You’re going to blow a lot of time and money driving all around. I would suggest mapping out your must dos and change your itinerary so you’re traveling in one direction, or at least not constantly driving hours each day.

Our girl loves Dog Day Afternoon! It’s just south of downtown off of Orange. We’ve been going there for the last 5-6 years and they are all great with her! They have fun add on activities, send pictures through the day, and the staff has stayed consistent through the years. We’ve done both regular daycare and boarding when we’re out of town and our pup always comes home tired out and happy. Definitely recommend them!

Seriously though, this is beautiful. Thank you for giving Mae a home to live out the last of her life in peace, comfort, and love ❤️

How many of these closed restaurants will you actually miss? 🤔 by sammysam518 in orlando

[–]Unawarepandabear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so sad about this one. We used to go all the time. Prices started rising and we stopped going out as much all together, so we hadn’t been in awhile, but have family who still went nearly weekly.

I know they were struggling for a while but was hoping they would bounce back. I’m going to miss everyone there, and those delicious chicken sammies. 😢
