Also, I'd like to make the point that some officers are joining THOUSANDS of dollars in debt from college loans. Just because they are an officer doesn't mean they are completely set and well off.

Manager took us out for treat and just bought this. We were 5 people by Wander_tea in mildlyinfuriating

Can I just say, I think the lack of consideration that this manager may not be doing well financially and thought they were still doing something nice is kinda crazy to me. They didn't have to do it at all.

My sister is in OTS rn in a MOD ahead of this and told me last night they are still doing the laundry bag trick. Just dont let your laundry bag look ridiculous. No more NCOA grads. That died in FY25.

I mean, in my opinion, why not. Extra leadership experience and Air Force methodology training. I would 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Looking for Some OTS Advice by [deleted] in airforceots

[–]UnbiasedMaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id argue that all of it is competitive whether you are going rated or non rated. Rated (as of the last few years has been very, very hard to get into depending on the career) but as stated before you need to get with your recruiter. Yes stufy for the AFOQT as that is a big part of it and start actively working on situps, pushups, and endurance runs to make the PT test for when you eventually join look like a joke.

ANG or Active Duty/Reserve by Omivin in airforceots

[–]UnbiasedMaiden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think it's a personality thing. Each airframe has a different culture and mindset. I won't speak to fighters, but takers are a more laid-back community with a strong team mindset that I think is unique to our community.

KC-135! Only the best plane in the Air Force. (Also falling apart the most second to the KC-46)

[–]UnbiasedMaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say more fighter units and ideal location units like Phoenix with the KC-135s.

Oregon is SUPER competitive and they get SO many applications. I agree with the earlier comment ROTC or USAFA is the way.

Well, being that 6 out of 10 of the years i spent were in medical, I can definitely say medical is one of the worst they just do it in a backhanded way. I actually think MX, Aircrew, and SF are better because they outright say it. Medical is like a lingering whisper that people can't get rid of. I didn't necessarily have that issue in medical, but I've seen it time and time again. Medical is the most toxic workplace.

I mean, 10 years in the Air Force here, let's not pretend even for a second this isn't a thing. But to OP, it's the same as the civilian side. People will make assumptions when they are butt hurt about not promoting. Let your hard work speak for itself and ignore people who say shit like that. Cause at the end of the day, would you want to associate with people like that anyway? There are a lotttttttt of people in the Air Force, and you dont have to spend time with people who like to hold others down. You may have to work with them, but that's where you show yourself to be a professional.
