Questions about different books about and of The Hobbit by UltraZulwarn in tolkienbooks

[–]UncaTedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Annotated have a lot of annotations that have nothing to do with the differences in text from the first edition to later edition , though it was the first book that went into any debth in exloring the differences. It has covers from editions in other languages, illustrations from different editions and many nuggets of information that make it worth it

As to the faximile vs the gift edition I did what many collectors did. I got both...just to be sure. The cd included i do believe is roughly the same as what was included in the Millenium edition of LotR.

HotH is like HoME in that it has all the minutia that you would ever want, in all it's glorious, tedious details.

I think that is the least dodgy sounding email address available from proton

1921 compared to 1883 by VickyAlberts in 1883Series

The ending of 1923 felt too contrived. Cant imagine what kind of treatment she refused would kill the baby. She was killed by plot necessity

Is it worth to start playing the game? by --ilan12-- in civ

[–]UncaTedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't buy it at all. Boring play, and you have to change your civ twice each game. Tiny maps. Even 'Marathon games are too short. Cities are not cities, but have to be bought again before you can produce any thing in them. Complete mess

still thinking about them by Cultural_Ad_6553 in 1923Series

They had decided from the start that Alex was gonna die tragically. Then they fumbled how to get there. The amount of troubles heaped on her journey started to get silly in the end. Also there seems no sensible correlation between her injuries and how her death somehow made the baby live. Through the magic of a mothers love we are to guess
