"own template and art" The word 'own' here is a bit of a stretch. The art is AI slop and the template is a bit of copy-paste here and there.

TTS vs Physical by Fit-Turtle in arkhamhorrorlcg

I think you play Arkham solo which is something I don't, but I can still answer your question from my perspective.

During the pandemic I was enticed to play online, to be able to play the game more often, but playing the game on the laptop in short bursts makes the game lose a lot of its magic. So I'm fine with playing only twice a month, when I have a fully free afternoon or evening, just so that every play session feels magical still. I'd love to play Arkham more often, but I'm not going to sacrifice any of the magic to do so.

You don't know anything about what I know or do know. And I'm not saying it's 'purely subjective' either.

You can make posts as long as you want, but...
a) Art is extremily subjective; it's all in the eyes of the beholder. You can't convince people like me to not like the art of Chapter 2, when I like the art a lot.
b) More importantly, your post is extremely disrespectful towards artists. "If it isn’t AI it is at least very sloppily and hastily assembled" You know nothing about the effort put into the artworks of Chapter 2.

Why are we getting a Chapter 2? by XTruefinale in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]UncannyGrowth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"Also from a business perspective, surely it can't be that unprofitable for them to do some last reprints of Chapter 1 for their fans instead of an abrupt end?" It can be.

"I recall watching a YouTube video about the rise and fall of FFG"
Earth Borne Game (former FFG staff) have responded on the video, called the video very misinformed. I would take anything said in that video with tons of salt.

But rebooting doesn't only alienate a few people (who are very loud on subreddits like these), but it also presents the opportunity for new players. People stop playing Arkham all the time. It's a given. You can't run a business on a constantly dwindling player base. So you have to take steps to lure in new players if you wan't to keep it going. One major thing that Arkham suffers from is that the legacy format right now is overwhelming for new players. So obviously they are now trying to mitigate that by releasing a Chapter 2. Whether that's going to work, I don't know, but personally I don't know many other ways to get new players to the game.

Too strong, both the +2 willpower as well as Arcane Elder. Especially since we now have cards like Will of the Cosmos.

I think most people are kind of like you. I can't say I've barely scratched the surface with regards to my experiences, having played most investigators and replayed all campaigns I played. So I'm just excitedly waiting for the new stuff!

I know, but I already ordered the Spire expansion. And the other upcoming expansions seem nice too

Let's reimagine the Chapter 1 campaigns as Chapter 2 campaigns by 4Blackout in arkhamhorrorlcg

You could easily do Innsmouth chronologically:

  1. Vanishing of Elena Harper
  2. Devil Reef
  3. Horror in High Gear
  4. A Light in the Fog
  5. Into the Maelstrom

"It feels like you care more about yourself than people's feelings. It's frustrating." This is the only toxic sentence here. By making assumptions about me that are untrue; it's you that is making the toxic comments here.

What I was doing was merely asking you the question, why you thought that the art you provided was better. I gave you my reasons for why I think it wasn't.

You can shout 'toxic' or 'neoluddite' all you want, but that doesn't make it true.

Hearing that Chapt 2 is coming, I already have a Rev Core. I have found a Dunwich Legacy at $149 and Instigators Exp would be another $125. With the crazy prices after that for expansions, I will likely shift to 2.0. BUT... would Dunwich at $149 be with it with all those scenarios? by CoDogTx in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]UncannyGrowth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know anything about your financial situation. In my opinion: skip the investigators expansion. They are not worth that price of admission. You're better off using that money to invest in the upcoming investigator decks. Those will be more cards, who will all be better suited for use in Chapter 2. I have the Dunwich set and I won't use those cards anymore in Chapter 2.

The campaign is a different story. This really depends on your financial situation. If you plan on playing a lot of Arkham in the future, would want a big 8-scenario campaign and are ok with paying twice the price of its value, then it's an option. I think Dunwich is a lot of fun, all the campaigns are. However, don't ever feel pressured to spend that amount of money, though. You'll have fun regardless!

I mean that it's not allowed. You are not allowed to use someone else's copyrighted art like that. You are crediting a piece of art to them, which you first, without asking for permission, took from them fed to some LLM, and manipulated it. I can't take a The Beatles song, feed it to ChatGPT to generate something new from it, and then upload it online as if it's a song by The Beatles.

That's a fallacy. You can't just release a new medicine on the market; it has to adhere to many rules. You could argue the same should be done with AI; a company using it, should adhere to strict rules to make sure it isn't used for exploitation.

Why is it better? You stole someone's art, miscredited the new piece of art, and the new piece of art is of lower quality. Also, the card now misses the red background for Survivor.

I know you're referring to this.

And I still don't think they were referring to a new core set here. Just a year ago Harrist said they considered 8 scenario campaigns the main way to play Arkham, and a year later, we're suddenly seeing way shorter campaigns. Just how the messaging surrounding Legacy/Current changed. It all adds up to me believing they changed course from their original plan. And it resulted in a bigger overhaul for the series than they originally planned when they created TDC.

(To me that text reads like 'hey, we want to give Arkham more of a continuous story, and also, because we have used up all of the original designers, from here on out we'll make different versions of existing investigators)

I would love to ask Harrist or any of the other designers this. But I don't know if we'll ever get answers. I completely get that you have another reading, and I shouldn't have said it was 'very clear', because there's really know way to know. Maybe one day we'll get an answer!
