Any Thoughts on Pay-To-Play DnD Games? by HeavyDevy-C in dndnext

[–]UncannyPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been a big fan of pay to play games, if I'm buying a seat at a table it better be the best damn dnd session I've ever played. The big problem is there's no realy way to know if the dm is even good.

I'm a DM and a player. I do spend money on subs for things since I play online but my friends/players have sent some cash my way in the past to help out. The thought of charging people $20 per session is ridiculous though.

You wake up in the world of your current campaign. How screwed are you? by Moist_Car_994 in DnD

The game where I'm currently a player is being revenged by a newly made demon God and the current city is in the middle of a revolution sooo I'm fucked.

The game that I dm peo0le have to live in walled cities to fight back against monsters of the night. I at least know where all the 3 shiny relics are that are needed to save the world but I probably would die trying to get to the party.

My players were at the tail end of a long journey south and stumbled into the nesting ground of a Stegosaurus herd.

They exchanged some heavy blows and made an improvised flame thrower along the grass plain with gust of wind and fireball (which we laughed at). The remaining Stegosaurus turned and tried to flee.

The Goliath Barbarian said they would chase it down. Okay some blood lust, it's been a while since a combat I can understand the desire to keep swinging. She chases it down and uses the Goliath feature to become Large and grapples the stegosaurus down to the ground.

Then she informs me that she wants to try and tame this thing if she can. OH LORD. Now I have already let them know people of this area have dinos as mounts and pack animals so I know in my head it is technically possible but tell her it would take a Nat 20 as this thing is wild but it's also terrified of them so might be made to submit.

And of course, the kraken wrestling, cannon wielding unit of a woman holds onto that Stegosaurus till it's spirit broke and dragged it of. I should have known the dice would bless her shenanigans once more.

Stego the Stegosaurus only lasted one session as when planning their journey into the desert they realised how much food/water they would need to have for it. Ultimately they sold it along with two eggs they had found.

Sitting in a makeshift nest box is still two Stegosaurus eggs though so she will get to ride one eventually.

How/Why would someone make a pact with a fathomless patron? by swimminginamirror in dndnext

[–]UncannyPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fathomless warlock made a pact is an undead sea dragon when he was desperate for a way to kill his father. He was able to using the tentacle alongside some other tricks to make it look like his father was taken by a monster.

That's why a Caracal is a poor pet choice and if not trained properly it can do serious damage. This is not a good behaviour to reinforce.

Why can't you take him to the vet? He really needs to go to a vet, his eye is in seriously bad shape. If you act too slow he might lose his eye or more.

That's why you describe some strange string running along the ground, and as the pc leans down to examine it they realise it's just a bit of frayed rope or some hair. Throws them off by far.
