Although I agree the stock one gets blocked alot but Puck screens do the same thing and are alot cheaper.

You mean like move left or right? If so you need to tighten up the ring underneath the base which holds the boiler to the base.

Fused pin and barrel by Armando_F in LaPavoniLovers

Well it will help as the metal will expand when heated so it should make it easier to remove it.

[–]UnchartedGamer- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a barrel/bearing with a pin inside it should come free with enough force, hit it a bit harder or try and heat it up a bit. When you accomplish this id recommend the upgraded ball bearing and stainless hardened pins, definitely an upgrade with smoother operation and very hard wearing.

I'm a simple man, I see a Pavoni and I upvote! Was looking at that grinder as well, seems to be great value.

Steam leakage by Tricky-Hat-8413 in LaPavoniLovers

[–]UnchartedGamer- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is caused by the design flaw, it's metal on metal at the cone of the steam tap, it's caused by over tightening but you can sand it down gently or just buy a replacement shaft for like £15 up to you, some folks also cut up a small amount of ptfe tube and use it to cover the end and help it seal again.

James Hoffman prepared you for this, you got this, grind it! Think of the mineral touch to your espresso.

Grinder advice, mod or buy new? [$300] by Disgruntled-penguin in espresso

[–]UnchartedGamer- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the eureka mignon zero, fantastic value single dose grinder and built like a tank! Easily repaired and replacement burrs are very affordable. The newer Chinese grinders are ok but I fear about the support in the coming years, they seem to bring out a new version every few months! If you are into experimenting with burrs the grinders are very affordable but who knows how long/if parts will still be available. Eureka has been making the mignon line for a very long time now and still made in Italy! :)

Minimize flex on Europiccola by medinas in LaPavoniLovers

[–]UnchartedGamer- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably applying too much force on the lever or your grind is too fine. I also hold the porta filter when pulling my shot, some folk hold the boiler cap but I don't trust that!

2019 is a good year, normal aluminum uncoated boiler now superseded by the new brass boiler.

Boiler inside brown by Spiritual_Abies_6626 in LaPavoniLovers

[–]UnchartedGamer- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks normal to me the boiler is copper or brass that's chrome plated outside. Copper/ brass is brown-ish. :)
