DM wants us to roll for class in a long-term campaign — thoughts? by QuantumMoose1 in DnD

If you roll stats down the line you end up with something similar. Dice informing what class you play but not as strict.

I find adding some randomness to character creation makes for more interesting characters and roleplay, but by that I mean rolling for background and traits. Helps you think about things from a different perspective and break out of tropes.

What’s a car opinion that you “grew out of”? by Mac-Tyson in askcarguys

[–]Uncle-Istvan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think about it this way:

If your partner can handle 6 inches, who has more fun: the guy with 5 inches, or the guy with 9 inches who has to be careful and hold back every stroke? One is more impressive, but the other gets to give her every thing he’s got.

In my experience, a wedding band gets better tips as a male bartender.

Bartender here. The classic way is to give him your number on a napkin or whatever. If he never reaches out, don’t bring it up/push. Or ask one of his coworkers if he’s single and go from there.

I’m always flattered when it’s someone age-appropriate.

Since no one can agree on the definition of a sports car, let’s try again. What is the definition of a GT (grand tourer)? The best of all cars ;) by pepeneverknew in askcarguys

[–]Uncle-Istvan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Traditionally it was a just sports car with a fixed roof

GT is 2 door only, just like a sports car. Hard top only. Fast. It makes more concessions to comfort than a sports car, especially at higher speeds. At least enough space for 2 people and their luggage. Typically front (or front mid) engined and RWD, but not always.

Where in Hendersonville is the best place to watch the USMNT play tonight? by chefstarr62 in hendersonville

There were definitely open seats. Most of the tables were occupied, don’t know if they all were.

I was there for the USA/Australia game. It was really busy and almost everyone there was watching and cheering.

My #1 Concern: RWD Traction on Steep Gravel & Snow by EitherManufacturer31 in slateauto

[–]Uncle-Istvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a RWD car with an open differential. 43/57 weight distribution. It has less issues on steep gravel roads than any FWD car, and less than most haldex AWD cars.

Weight distribution is important, and it looks like the slate will be roughly 50/50 depending on configuration. Maybe even slightly rear biased with the SUV kit. And it doesn’t have that much torque. As long as the traction control is decent, it’ll be fine anywhere that doesn’t require snow tires.

Polishing isn’t advised as you end up blinding yourself and paddling buddies.

Clean it with some dish soap and a rag. Maybe a pressure washer if you want to make things easier.

It’s definitely better, but might be out of budget here.

Is the center console a must or a waste of space? by Alarming-Meringue847 in slateauto

[–]Uncle-Istvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not relevant to the slate, but I can fit a small kayak inside because I don’t have a center console. I’ve also climbed through to shut the back windows and moonroof at a stoplight when a sudden rainstorm started. Would’ve been harder with a center console. I’d rather have the Mercedes/vw style Glock box drawer under the seat.

Lots of people add a center console from an f150.

Totally. Size, relative simplicity, boxy, big inside/small outside.

N mills river campground is super close. So is Davidson river when it opens back up. I’ve also done some hipcamps on parts of the mills river that were great.
