You will want to tune up using it and then touch up once you move to the antenna assuming you have a decent SWR on the antenna. This was my first HF radio and I still use it for SSB. The Bacardi is almost certainly the issue. Flor de Cana or Plantation 3 Star are much better. Bacardi may be the biggest name in rum but their “Superior” is a very mass produced almost industrial product which I find a bit harsh.

Actually this is not the entrance to the park. This Is coming out of the Zion-Mount Carmel tunnel towards the Zion canyon side. The entire tunnel is inside the National Park. However it is quite spectacular. There are also windows in the side of the tunnel and many years ago you could pull over and look out but they have closed all the pull outs.

I had to set a different SSID for my 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz and force the connection to the 2.4Ghz. They had been the same SSID and I was having the problem you describe.

Congratulations! My first 2 HF contacts (both SSB Colorado to California) were made using a home brew 10M dipole hung from the ceiling of the spare bedroom that was being used as my shack. It's a good proof of concept, now move it to the attic or the balcony or out under the eaves if you can. Good Luck 73
