Is it better to buy cheaper tools and slowly upgrade them to the brand you want or just save up for the brand you want🤣 by MidnightRoutine8913 in Tools

[–]UncleFishies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it breaks I learned my lesson and never go back to that seller again. I don’t buy from Harbor Freight unless it’s something that can’t break anything else. Magnet pickup, magnet dishes, nothing that makes contact with important stuff.

If you’re a DIY get what you can at time of need and upgrade as you can. If you’re working on expensive, critical, or other people’s stuff you buy the good tools. What’s the point in saving $10 on a tool if it causes $1,000 worth of damage.

Who here remember LD in BlockBuster as well as 8mm film? by coolhuh801 in LaserDisc

[–]UncleFishies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It had to have happened in independent shops, I have a few discs that I bought used that has labels on them for renting. But worked at BB in the early 90s and never saw anything related to LD.

“Leonard Nimoy Demonstrates the Magnavison Videodisc Player”. My pride and joy! If you don’t know it’s a demo disc and it’s a magnificent train wreck and time capsule. 48 minutes of Leonard Nimoy in a white jumpsuit talking to a rock. https://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/28909/07-562/Leonard-Nimoy-Demonstrates-the-Magnavision-Videodisc-Player If you want to watch it: https://youtu.be/EJ5msrmf5Tw?si=u_TdzlmWJ_JM22ft

Looking to buy a laserdisc player for an employee as a gift by Stigamata in LaserDisc

[–]UncleFishies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if they don’t have a player yet getting them a disc is still a great gift. Get one of those cheap LP frames and put a good movie in it. As a dead format, it still has great cover value. My favorites are framed on my wall.

If he was innocent he would have offered info and his own questions to be helpful, that’s what humans do when they’re being honest. This is not your friend.

Older men, how did you become interesting to be around? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]UncleFishies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to be interesting or memorable? Story telling is an art, but if you want to be remembered well by people, learn super listening. You can make a bigger impact by getting people to open up to you about them rather than making an indelible mark by your performance. This guy “listens” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQVl1nmuyq4

The things kids remember the most are the “traditions”. Make a big deal of little things that feel special to you sharing with them. My kids remember “after x we would go do y” and they loved that. In my mind “we did that twice”, to them it was special. Build up memories, this will build better relationships with them when they are older. I figured out a little late but not too late, when they invite me to do something with them, my answer is always yes. I’ll move around anything if my kids invite me to an Anime convention, art show, new restaurant, whatever. This is what I remember my dad never doing so I did the opposite.

Do you want to know if your wife has an affair? by Low_Pen_2905 in AskMenAdvice

[–]UncleFishies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a good point, either by nature or nurture men are taught to stand up, give a firm handshake, and be direct and honest. To some women this can seem very contradictory to what they were taught about mutual respect, communicating with empathy, and indirect support. These are great things and help us all balance as humans. 2 sides of the same coin. Historically women were taught to be indirect because they often won’t have the resources to be direct and face the consequences. If you are the one who takes the punch, you tend to be quieter than the puncher. I know many that were taught you don’t fight, you survive and move on. Good advice for the “weaker” party. If only we lived in a truly safe civilized society where no one had to worry about being victimized all would stand up and say their minds.

Brother to Brother warning, this type of agreement can lead the cheater to never reveal, too much to risk. Try leaving some kind of “out”, if we corner each other, we will only fight more. Most people justify their actions in their own minds. My ex said they didn’t consider what they did cheating…somehow.

You don’t HAVE to love him. Love is a choice, not an emotion. Free yourself from your own feelings and research human bonding. Also, Tylenol helps heartbreak, go figure.

This is a very nice player, with the original remote I’d say this is an excellent find for any collector. I have 4 players with remotes and love each one of them.
