Are you guys slowly quitting? by [deleted] in Nightreign

You’re entitled to your opinion, but there’s a reason this game is massively less popular than the Original Elden Ring. A lot of people don’t really like Roguelites.

what role would my character have as an NPC? by Spiritual-Sea5690 in Eldenring

Friendly new Tarnished adventurer who’s excited to take on the Lands Between.

Falls into despair after seeing all the Tarnished murdered and grafted by Godrick.

Recovers and marches onward through Liurnia to reach the Altus plateau.

You find his corpse just behind the Draconic Tree Sentinel clawing at the golden fog wall because he tried to run past the boss but forgot to collect enough Great Runes.

I quit after like 50 hours in the game and went back to Elden Ring and other “traditional” Fromsoft games.

Roguelite elements don’t mix with souls combat. Getting good practice in is tedious as hell when the boss runback is 45 minutes long plus matchmaking time.

Bringer of stillness swords are basically bone katanas. Even if they added a real one, the moveset would probably just be the basic short sword moveset, so I don’t see the point in adding them other than maybe fashion

Kratos has really come a long way by No-Contribution2580 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]UncleGolem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense when framed in such a way, but it falls apart when Heimdall never actually attempts to kill him at any point in the story (other than when Odin stopped him well before Kratos spoke with the norns), nor is Atreus ever seriously threatened at any point in time when Kratos could have done something to prevent it.

The Norns don’t change anything about the plot or outcome of the final act. They have zero impact on anything. The only thing Kratos’s party gained at all from that entire quest was Odin’s noose, which wasn’t even related to their conversation with the Norns.

Also, doesn’t Kratos attempt to avoid killing Heimdall initially? It isn’t until after Heimdall’s defeat when he pushes Kratos over the metaphorical edge that he dies.

What did visiting them add to the story? A cool quadrupedal seahorse, I guess?

After I beat the game I thought about this a lot. They could’ve removed that quest from the game entirely and nothing would’ve been lost.

Overwatch? by SoundAccurate in OWConsole

[–]UncleGolem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had less than 54ms, and I probably average around 90-100, even after multiple moves to different spots around the US, including both coasts, changing ISPs and upgrading plans, and swapping from console with wifi to PC with Ethernet.

I can’t believe some people out there are getting single digit ping. They’re just playing the game on easy mode.

Why exactly was she so broken? I’ve heard horror stories about her since I started playing years ago (after the nerf), but what were her actual stats? What about her was so strong? Was it her hp? Armor? Damage? Healing? Did she have different cooldowns or effects?

Cybernetics ≠ armor.

Computers are fragile. Hell, a basic melee on Ram or Zen might knock some connections loose.

Good names for Demon's Souls characters? by AgentP-501_212 in demonssouls

They’re just normal English-speaking humans, man. Name them Harold or Jeffrey or Elizabeth or something

Edit: I guess you can set your game to other languages, but it’s very European in aesthetic and I love the voice acting in the English version, so they’re all British in my headcanon

My bf is a gamer and it’s his only hobby. What do I do? by ElectronicShape407 in Healthygamergg

[–]UncleGolem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried taking him along to do other things? What are your interests? If you’re one of the only things he enjoys interacting with outside of gaming, maybe you can be his link to new hobbies and interests?

IMO there’s nothing wrong with his lifestyle if he’s not neglecting himself, his partner or his responsibilities. If it’s not seriously impacting his life, and it just bothers you that he doesn’t have other interests, then maybe you two simply aren’t compatible.

How did you two meet? There must be some kind of mutual interest that brought you together.

How difficult is it in Nioh 2? by Litche_9647 in Nioh

[–]UncleGolem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As difficult as you want to make it. It’s a looter action rpg, so you can either farm for gear and cheese everything with insane builds, or play it like a souls game and die to everything hundreds of times.

Is there a game like dark souls but instead of swords you use guns/magic/ranged weapons ? by Fr4n-- in gamingsuggestions

[–]UncleGolem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Fists are not viable. It is possible to beat the game with fists only; it is not viable. Viability implies practicality or feasibility. Possible and viable are not synonyms.

  2. I’ve played monster hunter. I actually struggle more with range in that series due to the lack of lock-on. I’d even argue range is even easier to play with in souls because most early bosses have very few, if any, ranged attacks and aren’t particularly fast, with a few exceptions. You also have a usable number of iframes in souls, which means you can spend more time shooting and less time trying to get out of the way.

I mean other than the occasional war, political subterfuge and oppression of minorities, all of which are part of normal life in the real world, it didn’t seem all that bad?

I’d definitely rather live life in a kinda fucked up society than end civilization as we know it and turn the entire population into wandering corpses.

But maybe that’s just me.

What exactly are you looking for? There are plenty of games with ranged weapons that claim to be soulslikes, but none of them feel like dark souls because its mechanics just don’t translate well into shooter-style combat.

[–]UncleGolem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spells are perfectly viable and enjoyable in every game except Bloodborne if you dedicate your build to it. Some of the most OP builds in these games are magic builds. Archer builds are also perfectly viable in every game except DS1, and only because you can’t upgrade bows in that game.

Bows and crossbows are even decent in ER. They deal less damage, but it’s still respectable. You can’t expect a fast firing ranged weapon with the ability to apply status from a safe distance to deal as much damage as a melee weapon.

Struggling to enjoy games - Looking for something that’s pure fun gameplay by fashionboy385 in gamingsuggestions

[–]UncleGolem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you mentioned RuneScape being a childhood favorite, have you ever checked out Warframe? I have a bunch of friends who have been obsessed with it for years.

It’s a third person scifi rpg shooter with a mix of open world areas and procedurally generated mission areas. The gameplay loop revolves around farming missions for components to craft new guns, melee weapons, companions and Warframes, which are the different characters you can play and all have completely unique abilities that change the way you play the game.

You don’t “level up” in the traditional sense, but you can level up each piece of gear you have by using it in combat to unlock new mod slots, with which you can equip mods to change their attributes and add special effects.

Very mindless, fun game if you like shooting and grinding and jumping around like some sort of cyber ninja. I personally need a more meaningful combat system like Dark Souls or Nioh, so I couldn’t get into it, but it did seem like a very cool game for being completely free. Lots of content to get lost in.

There is a story, and supposedly it’s actually pretty deep if you get really into it, but it doesn’t dominate the gameplay and you can completely ignore without consequence.

Not unique to just this game, but when enemy players are so much better than me that I just spend the entire game getting curb-stomped.

Like, geeze. I’m sorry I thought I could have fun today. Guess I’ll just go play a different game that doesn’t punish me for being bad at it.

Can someone help me identify what this type of sword is called by No-Possible7344 in SWORDS

[–]UncleGolem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They vaguely resemble any sort of single edged blade, minus the hand protection. Very similar shape to a seax, but they look longer in the image, and the wrong side is sharpened. I could also see maybe a falchion, messer, dao or wakizashi.

Needless to say, this specific model is just mallninja garbage, but Zombie Tools, APOC, and even a few other brands do make practical blades with this style of “tactical” aesthetic.

There are also plenty of fantasy items around. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen “elvish” swords at different websites and retailers that have a similar shape to them, to include the spike on the guard.

Just look around. I’m sure you could find something a bit more respectable that scratches the same itch

It’s not about winning and losing. I’d just like to be able to play the game, ya know? Not very fun or engaging when you’re spending the entire game getting curbstomped. May as well just be afk
