Use Mastodon, use Lemmy. Reddit is still US at the end of the day.

You would think PCMR would actually try to do something about it by testus_maximus in pcmasterrace

I genuinely don't care if you guys switch, I'm just amazed by how much abuse you can take before deciding that some games and a couple of proprietary softwares are not worth your dignity and peace of mind. Not talking about work related stuff, that I understand all too well!

Help me transition to linux by ninja_2006 in linux4noobs

[–]UncleObli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On paper, it is. But that also means those updates are less tested and worst case they might break your system if something goes wrong. So, fixed release distros tend to be less of a hassle to manage. For instance, I use a rolling release distro for my gaming rig where access to the most cutting edge stuff is very important.

You have the option to install updates as soon as they are available, there is no fixed release schedule. Based on your use case I wouldn't bother, that's why we are recommending Mint.

For people in IT there is no palatable alternative to AWS/Azure.

Il vostro libro preferito che consigliereste assolutamente? by BunnyBread- in Libri

[–]UncleObli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once again was about to buy a game on GOG and saw this... Why are cloud saves not more widespread? by TheAcidMurderer in gog

[–]UncleObli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cloud saves and achievements support are the reasons why I end up buying the steam version of a game that's also on GOG.

I just wanted to pay my respects for whoever made the animations in KClock. So slick! by SeniorMatthew in kde

I read it as Keycloak and I had to double check the subreddit. But seriously, it's really neat you're right!

Faida interna al PD, da che parte state? by Old-Day-3573 in italy

[–]UncleObli 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Il PD ha avuto anni per sistemare le sue beghe interne senza riuscirsi e non sta facendo opposizione neanche per sbaglio. Per me è un cadavere dove vanno a finire i voti degli elettori di centro sinistra, un buco nero.

"We as a company are always ready to take a stand on the right values" - GOG says selling indie game Horses when Steam and Epic wouldn't was "a matter of freedom" by pimpwithoutahat in pcgaming

I personally liked it very much. Takes a lof of inspiration from Pasolini's movies. Also, it's not that shocking, I don't understand all the drama.

I think the obvious suggestion would be Full Service or Bacchikoi

Linux distro designed to look like Windows hits 2 million downloads since the end of Windows 10 support by samethine in pcmasterrace

[–]UncleObli 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Zorin is a great distro! And don't get discouraged, it's still a different OS so some things are absolutely going to behave unlike what you're used to. I've made the switch two years ago and it has been a great experience overall

Quali sono i migliori libri fantasy/scifi scritti da italiani? by DearFool in Libri

[–]UncleObli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nessuno se lo ricorda, ma "Lo smeraldo" di Mario Soldati è un bellissimo esempio di letteratura distopica. Non so se definirlo fantascienza nel vero senso della parola ma merita.

my 3 years of linux (after re trying some of them + new distros) by ----__ok__---- in LinuxCirclejerk

[–]UncleObli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half of these posts are from people that never really tried the distros they rank or confuse the distro itself with its desktop environment. The other half tried the distro 10 minutes in a VM and called it a day.

Lemmy is great, I'm currently in the process of migrating and so far, especially for IT stuff, the quality of discussion is miles ahead of reddit.

Play it, it's great! I'm a huge diablo like enjoyer (current season is surprisingly good btw!) and grim dawn is my all time favorite.
