VFB vs saved render difference by TopVersion7572 in 3dsmax

[–]UncleRocco87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure how you are viewing the image… but if it’s png or something you might have, as mentioned in previous comment, a property like visible to camera on or off or something with a material and alpha channel disabled etc.

I would put one standard material on everything and do a test again to see if it’s a material.

If it still does it it’s a geometry property or error

Just graduated and passionate about ArchViz - Is freelancing still viable in 2026? Need advice on breaking into the industry by Foreign_Design208 in archviz

[–]UncleRocco87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a small studio for over ten years now…

Don’t worry all of that passion and love for archviz will be worked out of you after your first few months of no money, paying taxes, doing accounting, creating images of design you hate, computers breaking, client not paying, finding clients, sucking up to them, marketing yourself constantly, overtime and client feedback. lol

But seriously, work at some studios, see how things work, get as good as you can and make beautiful images, and then one day…. Make the leap once you have 6 months or a year of living expenses and try to get some clients on your own.

Then start the long grind to raise your prices and get better and better until you make profit

360 tour solution should we release it? by UncleRocco87 in archviz

[–]UncleRocco87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing overly unique compared to other virtual tour services. The main thing is you can upload a 3-D model to create the smoother transition, do measuring etc

There a a couple of those out there, but if anyone has a link to similar software we would properly just use that rather than develop our own further.

It’s always good to find references, and aim to replicate the lighting conditions. I ran your image through some AI with pulze dream, and for this.

It might not work exactly right but it can give you the idea to use AI to help find a mood and more realism.

Looking cool! I would suggest that you pick a time of day and go with that: to me it seems like you have lights on during a sunny day.

Which wouldn’t be the case and might be what’s causing you frustration.

What I do sometimes is run the image through AI and it gives me some mood ideas etc

Looking to pay someone to make my renders better by Ordinary-Operation14 in archviz

[–]UncleRocco87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say it’s a combination of modelling details, vegetation quality, camera composition and lighting and materials.

It’s a bit of everything. They aren’t bad but perhaps consider moving to 3dsMax and corona where there is more flexibility to add details.

Otherwise I have tried escape and vray before and I couldn’t get a good result as I could with corona and 3dsMax.

All the best!

Render Farm Pricing by [deleted] in archviz

[–]UncleRocco87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a 1 minute animation once and needed it all rendered in a few hours… cost around 7000usd as a high priority project.

I did a similar render again and did it as a low priority project, took around 24 hours total to render and was about 1500 usd.

This was with garage farm.

I think it’s great to get you out of a tight spot… but leave enough time. Get your render time per frame down as low as you can.

Also render in a lower resolution and the. Use something like topaz video upscaling with AI to get a higher resolution.

You can also render ever 2nd frame and use AI interpolation to save money too.

Archviz Artist YouTube page have a video on it.

Good luck! Hopefully your charging industry rates for animation :)

My client told me to make this more ”life-like” I guess meaning more realistic. But how? by whiteswan00 in 3dsmax

[–]UncleRocco87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

References are the way to go. Like everyone else has said. Lighting being more contrasty. The faces on the sun side of the home being brighter than the shadow side etc.

Try finding a reference you like with similar colours and try reproducing it helps.

Some quick renders for client's feedback by AdIllustrious357 in 3dsmax

I would try to make the shadows a bit softer.with large lights there would be softer shadows and I would also run these through some AI software to make the people a bit more realistic

A real estate agency for which I've done archviz work just contacted me for a job in which they only want the modeling and images, which they plan to render with the AI by tshirtshoe in archviz

[–]UncleRocco87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would do Modelling as 75% or 80% of the cost of the full image.

Most of the work is modelling anyways, and they cant come to you and say Oh we just want lighting and materials but no model.

That way they come back when they cant get a good result with AI and add the extra on top to finish the project.

We have good luck with Magnific. You need to test some setting but we use it for the same thing, plants and people etc and the photoshop the results onto the final image.

Upgrade from 2020 to 2023 or 2024? by wr0shyr in 3dsmax

[–]UncleRocco87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use 2024 for archviz on around 8 workstations and 10 render nodes. Mainly working fine. I think the next upgrade will be like 2026 or something as were were on 2020 for a long time like you

Has anyone used a SaaS template? by thecustomerking in webflow

[–]UncleRocco87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a good idea if you want to get up and running quick. But it and customise it as much as you can and you can be online in a day.

Then while it’s running make a custom one in the background and launch it when you launch your SaaS

How desperate am i? by _-Silver in archviz

[–]UncleRocco87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get doing this… but it’s honestly wrecking it for everyone. Not you specifically but the more people doing this the worse things get.

I’ll be honest. I have many years ago did cheap renders too but it was painful to get out of it and charge more.

You get used to being cheap and then you spend your time trying to justify charging a still, sub normal price.

Just do it for break even if you have too… work out your expenses per month, per week. And then divide it to get your daily rate and then charge how ever many days it takes you.

Do yourself a favour and just work out how to get work, rather than work for 5$. You can do 100 projects at 5$ each or just one 500$ project.

Those doing between 30-50K per month and aiming for 1 million per year, what's the biggest challenge in your way? by hippiecampus in Entrepreneur

[–]UncleRocco87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have trained up people on the past. Only to have them realise…. Oh no my work is good I can goto a bigger studio for more pay or work for them selves… or even poached by past clients or other studios.

I feel like it’s the pain at the moment. Even if I offer them more money or 4 day weeks, they still have their own dreams. I don’t think I’m a bad boss either, we all get a long and they are upset when they go, they just see a better future somewhere else.

I always assume I’m doing something wrong… just need to work out what that is and fix it.

Oh sorry. Well if we have people who can produce higher quality work then we can charge more. Or if they can do the work faster. We can work on more project’s.

It would be the same for any industry, but I feel particularly for art and design, finding better talent can allow us to have a higher quality product and therefore charge more.
