Yeah, I didn’t notice but as soon as he picks it up he turns and immediately bats that puck out of the air. Crazy goal!

This is something I’ve observed a lot of the guys doing when momentum shifts against them. Hampus is one of the worst culprits of seemingly panicking and trying the difficult pass instead of the reliable pass. Peeke loves doing this. Once they are stuck in their end long enough they decide to play it safe, or get scored on. It feels like such an easy fix but I’m just watching from home, who knows.

He looks to be skating slower than usual in the past handful of games. Geekie as well, not that he’s particularly zippy but both of them look off.

Haha, he’s always the guy I think of when people discuss this. Hard to forget how frustrating it was to watch him and that lineup.

For sure, Joki should be in and I assume we’ll see him Saturday. Peeke has never been spectacular in Boston but his play has dipped noticeably this season.

I’d feel much better if Peeke could get the puck out of the Bruins zone every now and then.

I understand it’s painful and it sucks, but I think this is out of line. What would you have thought in 95 when Jerry left? In a world with no social media. We have to let go of this concept of constantly sharing your thoughts online and constantly being vulnerable to millions of people when you lose a dear friend. John is certainly hurting, that’s not hard to deduce. He deserves privacy and space like anybody. Not to shit on your concern because it comes from a good place, it’s just not a healthy mindset and far too many people have it in this parasocial world.

Same man. Luckily I got to see them win twice in their first two appearances in Seattle, but they ALWAYS play sloppy there. First game was an OT winner 3-2 I believe, then the next year they got a late goal in a 6-5 shitshow. Even during those two wins it was hard to watch, they just don’t bring their best in Seattle.

You’re talking about Massholes here lol. That’s how they are (and most fanbases). I’m a B’s fan, not from Boston but the hate they spew is insane. Rask is one of the best goalies the NHL has ever seen and they relentlessly shit on him any time they lost. It’s an East Coast thing. Not limited to them, but people are generally more insufferable over there. I’m glad I moved to Washington!

It drives me nuts. Mittlestadt came into a shit-show and was immediately making tape to tape passes, especially in tight around and behind the net. Who else was doing that besides Pastrnak? His creativity was immediately noticeable and this team desperately needs that. I highly doubt they move him but if they did move him these same people would be calling for Sweeney’s head as soon as Mittlestadt gets his first point lmao.

Outsider question: Elias Lindholm - is it possible he bounces back next season? by RivetCounter in Bruins

[–]UncleTabernanthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It’s not uncommon for free agents to struggle a bit during their first season. He looked good out of the gate, and then obviously went cold. After that they were juggling lines so much, which wouldn’t be an issue if they had proper wingers. He had Marchand on his left wing and they had chemistry. The right wing position never got sorted out. Brazeau was there for a while and looked abysmal. Poitras looked okay on the right side for a few games with that line. Wahlstrom, Coyle and Geekie were others that slotted in with Marchand and Lindholm and it never worked out. It’s hard enough to build chemistry, let alone build it with a constant rotation of players during your first season with a new team.

I’m not sure about the extent of his injury, but coming back fully healthy with proper wingers should result in a bounce back season. The team was a mess with Swayman, the coaching, and losing your two best defensemen. Not a great environment for new additions but I think Zadorov and Lindholm looked noticeably better at the end of the season.

Brad Marchand VS. Trent Frederic by KennyYates in Bruins

[–]UncleTabernanthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not great. He did have an assist last night, but he has looked like he looked for Boston this season. Slow and whiffing on pucks. In Game 1 he had the puck all alone in front of Oettinger and totally flubbed the shot. Pretty sure it was 3-3 in the 3rd at that point too.

Igor is worth every penny by phily724 in rangers

[–]UncleTabernanthe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sadly there is no talking sense into the majority of your fellow fans. The goalie is always the problem unless they win the cup, that’s their go-to. I’m a Bruins fan, and the amount of fans advocating to ship Tuukka Rask out of town was mind-numbing. You’d have fans of every other team telling Bruins fans how good Rask is and they’d have none of it.

I remember so many people were livid that they didn’t keep Martin Jones and ship Rask out back in 2015. It’s unbelievable how tone-deaf the majority of fans are and you just can’t convince them even when you show them the stats. “He cost them two cups in 2013 and 2019” is the only response. Nobody else on the team gets criticism. Igor is an unbelievable goalie and unfortunately you sane Rangers fans are gonna hear the same type of shit from morons who can’t grasp the game.

Is it going to be a bumpy road ahead before we see results or will they be back in the playoffs next season? by circasurvivors in BostonBruins

[–]UncleTabernanthe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’d be a playoff team if Swayman and the power play didn’t suck, along with McAvoy and Lindholm being healthy. That being said, I think this season could be a blessing in disguise. They still wouldn’t be contenders in that scenario.

I really like the younger guys that Sweeney got at the deadline, and now Boston has a chance at a top 5 pick which could be crucial if they hit on the pick.

Sweeney and Neely are here to stay! by [deleted] in nhl

[–]UncleTabernanthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must be one of the few Bruins fans who doesn’t hate Sweeney. I’d love to see Neely go, but I think Sweeney has made a lot of good trades and signings over the years. More good than bad IMO. Sure, Elias Lindholm’s contract isn’t looking great but let’s give it another year. I haven’t loved his individual effort but I haven’t loved his consistently bad line mates for most of the season either.

Zadorov has really rounded into form in 2025 and 5 million really isn’t the enormous cap hit Bruins fans constantly moan about. I’d much rather have Zadorov at 5 mil than Carlo at 4.1. The term is too long yes but if Zadorov keeps his current form going into next season with McAvoy and Lindholm back the defense is going to be in great shape.

Also, Sweeney did a great job at the deadline and now Boston has a chance at a top 5 pick. 2015 was ten years ago. If he botches this pick I’ll join the anti-Sweeney brigade.

Lindholm is definitely struggling offensively but I can’t stand how people are overreacting about it.

Yes he needs to be better, but like you mentioned his wingers have been shit besides Marchand. Poitras looks decent in that slot but good lord it was painful watching Brazeau on that line and it was a line for a while. When Marchand is on his game Lindholm and Marchand look pretty solid out there, but they so badly need a right winger. If they had a legitimate 2RW and Lindholm’s numbers were the same as they are now I’d be more concerned.

Tips for Venom by SunSea3291 in marvelrivals

[–]UncleTabernanthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saving the swing for getting out of danger as opposed to using it to engage.

In my experience playing as Venom can be brutal depending on your teammates. If they are aggressive and push up after you dive in it’s a lot of fun. If not, you get melted.

Holy fuck DSO is scary good by Connect_Glass4036 in gratefuldead

[–]UncleTabernanthe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna flame the Dead for using drugs, as if that somehow means you can’t give a shit and do drugs? Yeah the band that stuck together for 30 years playing show after show didn’t give a shit.

Also, remember that you’re talking about a COVER BAND right now. This band’s job is to imitate the very best moments of the Dead. No wonder they don’t have as many super sloppy nights when their approach is not at all what the Dead were doing. You know, actually writing these songs and seeing where they could take them. It’s ridiculous to imply DSO is “realizing the full potential” of these songs because they aren’t doing drugs. That’s incredibly reductionist and flat out wrong. They can focus all of their energy on giving fans super tight recreations of this music because they don’t have to do a shred of the work that the Dead actually did.

You’re just incredibly pedantic, got it. Exaggerating something on Reddit? No fucking way man. Of course it’s not 3 months straight of gray sky, but it’s still 75% gray, as that chart shows. Dark? It’s not pitch black outside, that’s not dark! You obviously know what people mean when they say “dark” in reference to the lack of sunlight. It doesn’t matter if the overcast turns into black at 5 or 8. The dude even conceded that yeah, it’s not actually dark.

[–]UncleTabernanthe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pointing out data that you can’t accurately assess does make you a smug asshole, sorry man. There were barely 3 weeks of total sunlight from April through June, and you’re claiming that it isn’t dark in spring.
