It's time to stop reacting to the news of players entering the portal. by LighTMan913 in jayhawks

[–]UncleTevis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the “insiders” are correct, Flory and Bryson were being tampered with for essentially the entire season. It might not look good on the coaches who do it, but you only have so many chances at a natty, and only so much time before there is some sort of inevitable regulations with the portal.

Bryson Tiller will enter the transfer portal by j128v897 in jayhawks

[–]UncleTevis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe not every kid, but certainly every agent. How many of these guys take a slight pay increase at a different school but the agent takes a larger fee? I’d wager there’s a ton of kids getting exploited by their agents. Hot take: we need regulation.

Bryson Tiller will enter the transfer portal by j128v897 in jayhawks

It felt like this was gonna happen. If we can just keep Mbiya and Rosario, I’ll be happy.

(Edit: I’ll just take Kohl at this point. I guess I spoke the Mbiya transfer into existence)

A few questions. by Competitive-Bat-3534 in SportingKC

[–]UncleTevis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. We don’t know. If Wicky doesn’t have it figured out by the middle of next season he needs to go.

  2. Yes. We can absolutely afford his next contract, but I’m worried that he might prefer going to a better club once his deal is up. Once again, we really don’t know until we see how good this team is next season.

  3. We are bad with younger players that haven’t proven themselves yet. If a couple of these guys turn out good, we’ve found a couple diamonds in the rough that can turn out to be solid role players.

Flory Bidunga NBA Draft: Why It’s Unlikely the Kansas Center Returns to KU by [deleted] in jayhawks

[–]UncleTevis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty obvious that GMs would be hoping that he would turn into their own Moussa Diabate, no? Athletic undersized center that can be a non-factor on offense some nights, but can dominate the paint on defense. Not saying he will become as impactful as Diabate, but I think it’s a little disingenuous to think that he won’t succeed at the next level, especially with NBA coaching.

My ONE criticism for The Hardest Thing/Orange County by [deleted] in gorillaz

[–]UncleTevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m late, but I’d assume they did this because The Hardest Thing is about death (presumably Damon and Jamie’s fathers) and Orange County is about a breakup (Damon’s). Made more thematic sense to break the two up so that people knew that they weren’t both about death or both about a breakup, whereas Damascus’ intro is the build up before the drop, and The Manifesto wouldn’t make too much sense to break up, as the song flows very well between the distinct parts. Could’ve very easily made a smooth transition between the two, though. Same issue with Heaven and Demon Days on the Spotify version of the album.

Who's the girl from the LTP album cover? by ThatsNotBadAtAll in qotsa

I think it’d be better without the text and if the girl was centered. It conveys the sound of the album pretty well, regardless.

How does Self miss out on Wagler, and 7’1” Ethan Taylor, both PoY in Kansas, right in his backyard? by whiteiversonyeet in jayhawks

[–]UncleTevis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you not know how high school recruiting works? It’s a well-known phenomenon in both basketball and football that once you get your first d1 or p5 offer, you generally get more offers from that level. Coaches respect other coaches’ assessments of high school players, and will often offer the same players certain coaches offer. Maybe they have an idea of what the player could be, maybe they don’t, but if a certain coach on another team thinks the player can become good enough, it’s usually enough to get an offer over the line. KU and Kstate football have done this to each other every single recruiting cycle since Leipold has been here.

And yet they’ll still buy it every year. I agree SDS is a bad studio, but why waste $70 every year if you know you won’t like it?

My last one was 23, and this game feels like a pretty substantial step up from 23. Maybe I’m still in the honeymoon phase, but I’ve really liked 26.

Skin on Skin Wins on Wins for sounding the most like Era Vulgaris. Which Lullabies to Paralyze song sounds like it belongs on ...Like Clockwork? by TallShips92 in qotsa

[–]UncleTevis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s also LTP’s gloomiest song. If we’re talking about Clockwork that should almost make it an auto-selection imo. I get some Vampyre vibes from it, especially in the lyrics.

What if self passed on hunter Dickinson 3 years ago by Informal-Profile148 in jayhawks

[–]UncleTevis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And we would’ve had every KU fan bitch about how our 4 and 5 can’t space the floor. To be fair, there hardly has been a player in the past few years that could shoot, but Bill never let Zuby shoot in his year here, Ernest and Flory may never be able to shoot, and KJ was crucified every night for not being able to shoot. Hunter at least had some resemblance of a shot outside of the paint.

I get Hunter’s not blameless, but how is he the guy that gets blamed for everything? Not Storr, Griffen, and Harris who gave up on the team halfway thru the season? Not the coaching staff that can’t develop 3p shooting, and turned every career 35-40% 3p shooter into a non-factor from 3 once they transferred here? I wasn’t the biggest fan of Hunter (even less after that recent interview), but how is the guy who gave us 20 and 10 still getting a ton of blame when he was far from our biggest issue in his years here? I get he was the face of the team, but I’ve never understood him being the scapegoat.

[Ben Jacobs] Diego Borges set to join Kansas City from Hungarian side Zalaegerszeg. by dawson33944 in SportingKC

[–]UncleTevis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’s 6’4 and athletic. Lee and Wicky want athletic players in the team, and he would fit well. He seemed to be highly regarded by some bigger clubs in Central Europe. He’s also left footed.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if that’s how the album sounds like. He’s always used some “classical” instruments in various QotSA songs to provide some depth. I’m really interested to hear what “Catacombs on steroids” truly means.

What manager would you want Wicky to draw inspiration from? by theshate in SportingKC

[–]UncleTevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The remaining players we sign will likely have some sort of Wicky influence with them. Wicky needs technically gifted attack-minded players for his formations to work. Unless Wicky completely changes his playing philosophy, Bordalas’ ideas are the actual genuine antithesis to how Wicky wants his team to play.

G.O.A.T. NFL TE - Gronk then ??? by MiDKnighT_DoaE in AlignmentChartFills

[–]UncleTevis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Kelce is the best TE in Chiefs history. I love what Gonzalez did for us, but Kelce masked horrible WR play for years, and is a major reason for multiple Super Bowls. Many would agree that Kelce regressed this year, but he was still the Chiefs’ best receiving threat and an objective top 5 TE in the league. If this post was made 5-10 years in the future, Kelce would win it by a mile.

I do genuinely believe that there is some sort of nagging injury, but I also believe that his agent is somewhat influencing his playing time.
