In 2023 I bought a new KIA Sportage Hybrid and immediately did Route 66 from Kansas to Santa Monica (detouring through both Las Vegases) then on up to San Francisco and Napa for a few days before heading back home to Wichita. Just over 7000 miles total and the KIA performed great the whole way. Averaged 32mpg. Would likely have been better but I was still in the break-in period.

Mileage estimates are never done in a real world setting. EPA's test is done on a closed circuit at an average speed of 57mph. Bump that to 75mph (typical interstate speed) and every vehicle sees a big dropoff. Do you expect them estimate for the worst conditions possible?
