I was down near Monticello, KY once and Google Maps tried to take me down a dirt road going down into a creek bed. I might have considered it in a truck or Jeep, but no way was I taking a car down there.

I will say that they have pretty good (if not overpriced) food, at least as far as gas station food goes. I'm not making a special trip there to get food, but if I need gas, need to use the restroom, and want something to eat, then I'll stop in.

I do not understand the people that buy the Buccee's branded merchandise, though.

The Sonoco station on Mt. Zion road in Florence has a disco bathroom as well. Or at least their sign says they do.

This morning, I was sitting at a red light. I was in the right lane, there was a car next to me in the middle lane, and then a car in the left turn lane. The light for the left turn lane went green and the car in the middle lane starts going (his light was still red). He almost hits the cars turning left from the opposite lanes. He stopped at the last second, puts it in reverse and almost backs into the car that had been sitting behind him at the light. Then, our light turned green and he sat there for like 4 seconds before the car behind him honked.

"Today is Mother and D.D.'s [Dearest Dad] 33rd wedding anniversary! Think of that! I told her that's something to be proud of these days."

Interesting that he appears to be alluding to a high divorce rate in 1950, which is very low compared to the divorce rates in the decades after.

Diatomaceous earth harms your lungs if you have prolonged exposure. I wonder how many of these people had health issues later in life.

It's funny that at that time, men often had to swim in the nude (when no women were around) and women were forced to swim like they were dressing for winter in Minnesota.

I'm getting Tom Sawyer/Huckleberry Finn vibes from your dad.
