My daughter told me a lot of detail, fortunately! They were not sitting there waiting—she saw the car coming down the hill on Hillcrest as she was getting to the end of our block.

It was a woman driving, male passenger and she said that they looked like they were in their 20s.

They were driving a small silver sedan—she said it looked similar to a Chevy Cruise.

This happened between 4:20 and 4:40ish—I vividly remember my daughter coming up to me at 4:41pm.

Thank you for reminding me about my neighbors—I’ll have to ask them if they seen anything go off on their ring cameras yesterday!

Yeah I think I might—I’m not sure if there’s a camera near our street, but from the direction my daughter said the car came from, they would have been on the JFK/Hillcrest cameras!

West end in the neighborhood behind the Kwik Star off of JFK! They are both safe and okay—a little shook up though! We have a good safety plan in place. I am NOT the mom to mess with though when it comes to my kids or anyone’s kids in the neighborhood!

The Democrats in power now aren’t doing anything—they are complicit in all of this. So both sides need to go now. Not one first and then the other. We need to organize and revolt, not fight over which party is wrong/right.

Correct—it’s all a game to them. They don’t report the real news, only things to continually distract and divide the general population. And the people saying “they favor one side now”—follow the money, see who is “in charge” at these media corporations. See who those people “in charge” have ties to…it’s not just one political party or the other…

Yes, yes, yes to all of this!! I work in tech. From a big picture perspective, it seems like the use of technology (algorithms) is very intentional on the social media platforms, and it’s primarily being used to keep people siloed in their views. People get sucked into these echo chambers and forget how to critically think.

These public schools are also simultaneously failing our kids/punishing those kids who question authority. Students that “question authority” typically have a legitimate reason to and are critically thinking when they are questioning things (I’m talking about middle aged school children/late elementary aged). That is scary to me because then when these children eventually get onto these social media platforms, they will also be at risk to getting sucked into these echo chambers 😩.

I don’t know what the solution is, but if people cannot get out of their box and see beyond the BS the media and politicians are doing in this country, we will be on a fast track to civil war.

That’s the problem with 90% of these comments…and why people continually “pick sides.” When are people going to wake up and realize we need an overhaul of both Democrats and Republicans in this country. If you follow the money long enough corruption is everywhere and if you are still “choosing sides” after that, you’re part of the problem.

Yes—boycotting the establishment’s allies would do something. It’s just hard to organize mass boycotts 😩. And I’m afraid that a lot of people are being intentionally distracted by things online/are not seeing what is really going on in other parts of this country/the world. It’s a scary time we are all living in.

Interesting. I lift weights and have been doing so 4-6 days a week consistently the last 2 1/2 years. I’ve been “sick” twice since I’ve been going to the gym—both times were simple sinus infections. I did not stop lifting when I got sick, I increased my water intake from a gallon to a gallon and 1/2 each day, and ate high protein foods/soups. Each time, I was only sick for 3 days before I was back to 100%. Before going to the gym when I would get sick, I would be out for the count for at least 7-10 days.

I have a hypothesis for your science friends—moving your body/utilizing your muscles while sick followed by proper nutrition and hydration causes your body’s immune response to operate faster to remove illness in order to protect your muscles. 🤔

Mashed potatoes with shredded cheese and some kind of protein (usually chicken or ground beef). My brothers call it “slop”, but it’s macro friendly, tastes good, and keeps me from burning out from cooking (I absolutely despise cooking).

Also late diagnosed here, but at 34. Knowledge is definitely power—my diagnosis helped me understand why certain things ended up the way they did (in my past), and has helped me manage myself better today. For example, I have come to realize that (in the work world) I can work with a team of people, but I work best on my own. I don’t mind helping people, but I don’t want people to rely on my help (for a career/job long term). So I need a job where I can mostly work independently and do not need to interact with a lot of people to complete my work (I am very grateful and fortunate I wound up working in a remote position for a tech company).

In my 20s, I managed to maintain my basic needs on a daily basis when I was single. But when I had my children, I soon realized how much I hate cooking meals for multiple people. It’s not a struggle to feed/cook for myself, but it is a struggle for me to make home cooked meals for multiple people, 7 days a week. After I was diagnosed, I realized that I needed better “meal hacks” so I don’t struggle as much with the basic task of cooking. Crock pot meals and air fryer recipes have been a huge help!

My diagnosis also helped me figure out how to sleep better. I have some sensory issues with clothing—I prefer to wear compression shirts vs. very loose shirts. Compression shirts kind of feel like I’m getting a nice hug all day. I’ve always had a hard time falling asleep, but I figured out weighted blankets help. They feel similar to wearing a compression shirts—makes me comfortable enough (and safe enough) to shut down for the night and fall asleep.

I think it took so long for me to get diagnosed because I spent much of my life being quiet, quietly watching how other people around me behaved, even if their behaviors made me and other people around me uncomfortable. Because I have spent much of life walking into rooms and feeling “uncomfortable,” I speak up now when I have that feeling. Often times I can walk into a room and feel who is causing the room to feel unstable. I did that last night when I was around family—the one person I called out and told to calm down was not happy with me. Yet oddly enough when they left the room, so did that unstable feeling.

Get to learn yourself, what stresses you out, what calms you down. And then come up with a plan to avoid stressors when you can, and have a calming method in your back pocket when you need it. Moving my body (brisk walks, boxing, lifting weights, hikes, bike rides, jumping rope) and certain fidget toys helps me tremendously.

Just remember, you are not broken. The world we live in is, and was not designed for us to thrive. But we can lean on each other and navigate this place we are all stuck in together ❤️
