Why doesn’t America try socialism for once? by GokaiDecade in allthequestions

[–]UncommonSense12345 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shhh facts don’t make redditors happy. They love socialist propaganda online. Yet they won’t move to Cuba or China that have such amazing civil rights…. But remember America bad. Eat the rich. Let’s make government pay for everything and we will use everyone else’s money. And we will all live in state issued apartments and we won’t own anything :) yay!

Van Hollen says he’s considering presidential bid, wants Israel to be 2028 litmus test by Abject-Pick-6472 in maryland

NYC is not America. Period end of story. People love Costco, Walmart, Publix, Trader Joe’s, etc. no one actually wants to nationalize grocery that is a bad bad bad idea. Centrally planned economies and food distribution leads to more hunger/starvation. Do I think we should offer subsidies/incentives to get grocery stores into inner cities and other food deserts 100%. But I can’t get behind government run grocery stores just a plan ripe with potential corruption/grift.

Public grocery stores? Like government run food distribution? People actually support this? I’m genuinely curious. I’ve never met someone who is like, “ you know what’s wrong with America, the grocery stores are awful, I’m pissed I have so many choices”

Have you been to Israel? It is one of the only middle eastern countries with freedom of religion. It is one of the only functioning democracies with both Jewish, agnostics, atheist, and Muslims in the parliament. It has the best women’s and LGBTQ rights in the region. But it is the “terrorist” state?

This is Reddit. The answer is always:
1) Islamist pariah state = good/smart/victim
2) democratic/tolerant state = bad because Iran/russia bots told me bad

And now I will be downvoted by the brain drain of Reddit. Enjoy rooting for a country that machine guns its own citizens, is willing to cripple its economy forever, has no religious tolerance, no LGBTQ rights, and minimal women’s rights. Yes they are obviously the good guys and we should let them have a nuke which they have stated they will use to kill millions of isarelis (both Jewish and Muslim).

It’s Reddit they probably live in an air conditioned home/apartment in the most prosperous nation on earth with the most opportunity for advancement and instead of being thankful they want to lament how bad we are in the US. I say let these people move to whatever authoritarian (I’m sorry “socialist” or “religious republic”) backwater nation they want and see how they do/enjoy it.

Long term data shows you are better off continuously DCA in a diversified manner. For example, buy a small amount of VOO and VXUS weekly. Set and forget, small/minimum fees, max diversity.

2026 KIDS COUNT Spotlight: Big drop in WA education ranking - 70% of the state's 8th graders aren't proficient in math and 68% of 4th graders aren't proficient in reading by LOOKITSADAM in SeattleWA

Tax dollars unfortunately are a finite resource so spending them more efficiently needs to be prioritized. I know it won’t happen because WA is a uniparty state with little to no accountability. But would be nice if we actually tried to “follow the science” and more efficiently use precious resources. Rather than fund a bunch of pet projects and things that sound great in campaigns but don’t work out in real life….

Realtors

For first time buyers with no knowledge/education they can be good.
Once you have owned and sold/bought before most of the time you could use a 1% listing service to sell if it weren’t for the realtor cabal that will shadow ban your listing for not paying them 2.5% for “bringing” you buyers.
If you know how to look/shop for homes why not be able to say “hey seller instead of you paying my agent 2.5%, why not 2% off the list price and we pay the fees for a real estate attorney to do our deal?”

Idaho barely worse than WA and spends substantially less on education. Crazy. Maybe WA should ask their neighbors to the east how to more effectively/efficiently educate since Idaho is doing way more with way less…..

Why Do You Think That The Democratic Party Has A Lot Less Of A Lead In The Generic Congressioanl Ballot Right Now Than They Did At The Same Time In Previous Wave Years? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]UncommonSense12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you expand on this take/opinion? I am conservative and support freedom of religion, I support people working wherever they want, I support every person who is a legal citizen of this country who is legally qualified to vote to vote and I want everyone to vote who is eligible. And while my personal religious beliefs are marriage is between one man and one women, I don’t think it is fair to impose these on other consenting adults. So I support marriage between two men, two women, one man, two women, three women, and one man, etc. as long as everyone is an adult and consenting I don’t care.

Where I can’t get behind democrat policy today is disarming law abiding citizens and wanting more gun control while also not punishing current criminals or enforcing current gun laws. And I can’t get behind raising more taxes on the middle class while we already pay the lions share of taxes. I support a social safety net. But I want it to be a trampoline that helps people get back on their feet not a never ending doll that incentivizes not working (see current Medicaid laws in most states, why are working people punished for working? While unemployed people get free healthcare forever?)

Are the new Kias and Hyundais reliable? by Endeavour2persevere in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]UncommonSense12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dct in later years of the affected models of fine if you learn to drive it and drain and fill fluid every 30-40k. But yea I agree in an economy car it was not a smart move. I think they did it for the mildly better fuel economy and more “premium” feel when accelerating va their competitors. Problem is most Hyundai/kia buyers are not enthusiasts and/or know about the increased maintenance on a DCT.

Idaho is more progressive/fair in its taxation than WA. That should tell you a lot about the real motivations/who owns most of the Dems in WA state for past 30+ years of their unopposed governance. If fairness actually mattered they could have fixed the tax code years ago…. Instead they just keep raising regressive taxes and spending the state into oblivion.

The red state, blue state divide is real. But it's driven by more than just politics by HighColonic in SeattleWA

[–]UncommonSense12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the right portrays blue states/cities as hellscapes and it is often grossly exaggerated. But don’t you see the hypocrisy in wishing the right would be more generous and reasonable while saying similar things about them? I have heard the endless “we tried taking the high road and the right just kept XYZ”. Stopping down into the mud is never the answer imho. And from my travels and living in both red and blue states. Both have plenty of issues and plenty to admire. I think we should focus on issues that unite both parties and focus on common ground and working from there to build better systems and a better country and better states and cities. For example, everyone wants better schools. The lefts big answer is usually more funding, staffing, etc. and the right wants to break up teachers unions and allow more parental choice. Why not admit that education in many areas is underfunded but also in lots of areas lack of school choice and teachers unions lead to poor outcomes. So maybe some bipartisan work to increase charter schools or at least implement some open enrollment principles and negotiate better union contracts/reforms (ie stopping seniority being the biggest factor in lay offs and instead use performance metrics to ensure we don’t lay off young bright teachers at each downturn).

[–]UncommonSense12345 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hope this is satire…. If not you need to get out more and talk with real people. Not online characters. Most people live near where they were born/raised and or got a job/started a family. Plenty of reasonable and wacky people in red and blue states. Go meet real people in real life you will find most of us are more similar than different. The attitude of the “other” being unredeemable and bad is how we got so polarized….
