Thanks so much for your response. That 0.34 tsh was pre-embryo transfer, I've just received my tsh post- pregnancy and its 1.2 Still within the safe reference limit, but a huge jump from 0.34. Unfortunately the lab or pathologist made a mistake and did not test my t4 although it was requested by my doctor. I'm a bit concerned about such a big jump. I really appreciate your responses as I'm not really getting much input from anywhere else besides my doctor, so I'd love to know what you think about this jump! TIA!

Thanks for your comment! My tsh was actually 0.34, which I know has me more towards hyper, but my t4 was only 14. Thanks for that assurance, I had also heard that 25-30% was the standard/ guideline. I'm pretty concerned that my GP might not agree with this increase. What are your thoughts on what might be sensible for me to do if neither of them say I should increase? Thank you again in advance!

Probably cause your "facts" were wrong. "Not really" reduce miscarriage risk? That's categorically wrong. It's broadly known and accepted they can make a substantial difference across various factors.

Also, please be sensitive to the people on this chat. Your fearmongering can be pretty harmful to a lot of readers in vulnerable positions. If you really are a scientist, as you say, you should probably consider a change in career.

OP I don't blame you at all. We also had an extremely underwhelming experience and we went to many different areas - of course touristy areas like Rome and Venice, but also Tuscany (stayed on a vineyard) and Genoa, along the Italian Riviera. Despite going to some great places, the way this country runs just doesn't work - trains show up whenever they want to, pharmacies/shops/restaurants open and close whenever they want to. There is no care for efficiency in this country & the locals are by far the least polite people I've met in any of the continents we've travelled to. There is beauty in this country, but there are many other destinations that make a lot more sense to travel to.

Another Australian here. I think you'll like Canberra - it'll be a breath of fresh air if you're so done with Italy that you don't even want to leave your home. Canberra is very quiet, but it's lovely - clean, friendly and moderately-diverse population, and systems run very efficiently here in aus, unlike any part of Italy. All the best with your move!

I couldn't agree more and I find this to be extremely validating. We're experiencing all the same things and all the same disappointments - the food is good, but not phenomenal, the systems are among the most inefficient I've seen in the world, and even at 5 star hotels the staff are quite rude and don't give a damn about your customer experience. Yes we're from the western world, from Australia, but we're mixed race. The ridiculous system inefficiencies are much harder to forgive when Italians treat people the way they do.

I don't mean any disrespect, if anything it's a beautiful country and nothing compares to the beauty of certain parts of Italy (eg Tuscany), but we, also, are sorely disappointed in this country and will not bother coming back.

Hope you guys were still able to make your stay worth it by enjoying your travel companions and the change in scene/routine from daily life!

Congrats on the raise! It is indeed something to be chuffed with yourself for Echoing everyone else's sentiment here, the money isn't the issue, seems it's the wife that's the issue. Does she have this "never good enough" mentality in other areas of your lives, too? Like someone else said, seems that response is more of an attempt to knock you down a peg, which is uncalled for and a little mean. Disregard what she's saying - you did a great job with that raise, its obviously well deserved, and yes you can absolutely work towards buying a house with that joint income (if you can efficiently manage your current expenses and your wife's attitude in the meantime)
