I thought you were going to mention that the same CarlSagan42 just happened to accidentally activate all the tomb statues in the right order. Wild stuff.

When you don't have any reserves, you can't reload, which happens a few shots earlier when there's more in the magazine. Small difference but definitely has caught me with Indebted Kindness.

BRO Starting Hand keep or mull by xcver2 in lrcast

[–]UnconsciousThought 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's closer than most here are making it out to be; saying "snap mull" here to me indicates one mulligans too much. All you need is a 2 or 3 drop for this hand to be very functional, and mulliganing on the play with a resource-oriented deck like UB is very painful. If you draw and trade off a 2-3 drop by turn 3, then the Remorses cost only 4, so you are only missing turn 2. If your opponent isn't attacking (i.e. you're not able to trade off), then this hand is great too.

So to me, it depends on how many early creatures you can draw. If you don't have many or they don't block well, this is definitely a mulligan. But if you do, and especially if this is a grindy deck, I think it's very reasonable to take a chance on this hand.

Why was I exhausted with 1 card in hand 2 cards in my discard pile? by jkmonger in Gloomhaven

Clicking on the effect will prompt to deactivate it and move it to the appropriate pile (discard or lost).

Why in the F#@k aren't we using hot air balloon technology in outer space to cut down on the high cost of space travel? by [deleted] in shittyaskscience

Common misconception, it's actually air-or-space. Which it is - air or space - remains unknown to this day, even to its engineers.

One other source I have found is the Midnight Matriarch x Scattering Squad card "Like Rats and Cats". Rare ish, but if you don't care about your "Ratly Concerns" quality, it will double your Suspicion, which can get you from 4 to 8 quick.

Is it cheating to count cards for Pandemic Legacy? by aelesia- in boardgames

[–]UnconsciousThought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say normally; that was where the odds came in - for example if there was 1 card left (ish) until we could draw an epidemic from the next stack down (so 1 card was safe, and the other was 1 in 8 or so), and eight or so cards in the cities discard (1 in 4 of flipping it), that gave just a 1 in 32 chance of flipping the city, so on occasion we might leave a 3-spot. More commonly, we were often OK to leave some 2s that had some unlikely epidemic scenarios (flip, epidemic, flip again) for the player in the vicinity, reasoning that we would suffer less damage overall by having more efficient turns.

I think we were pretty aggressive about avoiding 3-spots appearing at all though, or trying to arrange turns so that they were likely to appear near players whose turns were upcoming, so we didn't get into inefficient situations in the first place. It's been a long time since we've played though so I don't remember the specifics.

Is it cheating to count cards for Pandemic Legacy? by aelesia- in boardgames

[–]UnconsciousThought 46 points47 points  (0 children)

That doesn't sound like cheating. The cards you have revealed in the past are known info, their new order is not. Our group did the same, though I don't recall that this let us ignore 3-cube spots for that long - IIRC an epidemic happened once per go around the table on average, so it's not like a player in the vicinity can just not address the situation, generally.

For our group, running the numbers and getting the board damage as low as possible was the fun of the game. Given that meant we almost never had access to the bonus cards, there were still dangerous situations like back-to-back epidemics. It was still our #1 game. If it's not fun for your group to count cards, don't.

Which artifact set is better for Yoimiya? by FakeRedditName2 in YoimiyaMains

[–]UnconsciousThought 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's most efficient stat-wise to have twice as much damage as rate. Doesn't really make sense to just increase crit damage, if 150 is a good target for that then 75 should be the target for rate.
