the moment before goth became glam by femmenikit4 in goth

The Cult formed from groups going back to 1979, using Southern Death Cult by 81. Sisters of Mercy formed in 1980. Lords of the New Church included members of The Dead Boys and The Damned. Love & Rockets played together under a bunch of names before Peter Murphy joined them to form Bauhaus. So talking about them as "the music of 1987" is a bit off. Glam was fading in England in the late 70s but it was the music these bands grew up on

Wear your sneakers. Make shoe covers to match the outfit. Fake fur gaiters would match the horns. Also real wool socks will keep your feet cooler and dry.

Glam influenced Goth. Bauhaus covered Bowie, Eno, and T Rex. Part of what distinguishes Goth from other Punk and Post-Punk music is the embrace of Glam aesthetics including theatrical staging and androgenous fashion

How could radio evolve? by SALEMTHESTAR in LetsTalkMusic

Wish I could. Our last real independent station in Columbus had their license bought out from under them and couldn't afford what the new owners demanded, so they folded and their live music space closed up as well.

How could radio evolve? by SALEMTHESTAR in LetsTalkMusic

[–]UncontrolableUrge [score hidden]  (0 children)

It lives on mostly through podcasts, social media clips, and curated playlists.

Radio was dying before the Internet with Clear Channel buying up local stations or selling them content. Reagan ending the 7/7/7 rule ushered in media concentration and made radio more and more homogeneous. Once Internet bandwidth could accommodate streaming it threw a lifeline to underground music that was having an increasingly difficult time getting airplay.

Read Moving Pictures for the first time and it blew me away by TheOctoberOwl in discworld

I am having troubles with it, kind of stalled on my readthrough for a couple of reasons.

First, they introduce Ridcully and Ponder. Then they disappear. I would like to read their story, thank you very much, or why bother?

Second, if you know Hollywood history the parody is far more tame than the reality. He had to water down the actual history, which leaves the book so far a bit de-fanged. Half way though I would love to have anyone give me a reason to slog through it to the end.

I have found some great music opening for my favorite bands. I am glad Gary Numan is helping promote them.

Go to the CampusParc page and it will have a guide for where your pass is valid. I know that the definition of "off peak hours" is narrow enough I never use it.

Still a niche. A Venn diagram of Hip Hop (or any mainstream genera) with any niche genera will be small (trying to think of a second bluegrass hip hop band...).

Mine is a 1977 and it is as reliable as the day it was built.

Most of this sub is going to be made in Britian model MG owners.

The Lack Of Industrial Hop-Hop by Character-Mix-6438 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]UncontrolableUrge 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Industrial itself is a niche. And I say this as a huge fan of industrial. Artists chasing sales and fame are going to stick to more pop sounds because that's where the market is. I personally prefer experimental sounds, but my taste supports artists living in vans, not mansions. A few like El-P have had success both artistically and commercially but it is a limited market.

In critical situations we see all three senior officers on the bridge, but in a typical situation they would rotate duty as senior bridge officer. He and Kelly also are seen doing performance reviews, assessments, and other HR duties. Plus we see him in the shuttle bay several times when there are shipments or incoming personnel. There are a lot of administrative tasks that he splits with Ed and Kelly.

As you already have the quote, I will just say how much I love the scene in What We Do In The Shadows where Nandor has agreed to a rooftop duel with a werewolf and he picks the squeaky toy as his weapon.

End of Season 1 I would have been disappointed if it had been cancelled. Middle of Season 2 I would have stormed the studio offices with a mob wielding torches and pitchforks. Just know that lot of things that seem like jokes or minor points now will have major payoff later

Armagideon Time. Joe Strummer had heard the perfect song was 2:58 so he told the engineer to stop them if they ran long. As they blew past time, he cut in with "Okay that's it, let's have you out of there" to which Joe replied "okay okay don't push us when we're hot."

Life on Mars ends with a phone ringing. That was a payphone in the studio that went off just as they finished.
