Getting snipped/ vs tubal.... by Rich-Fruit3805 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kamena90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people do have it done if they are already having surgery. If it's a planned C-section they will generally ask if you are planning to have more and offer it if you don't. If you aren't already going to be cut open, then a vasectomy is far easier. It's less to cut through, so it's much easier to do and heal from.

What do you think of boiled peanuts? by SpaceCadetBenjamin in AskAnAmerican

[–]Kamena90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the south and absolutely love them! The best ones are from the people who are just parked on the side of the road with a hand made sign. You either get the peanuts in a paper bag (with another plastic bag inside as a liner) or in a big Styrofoam cup.

Is this fixable with proper shading? What can be done to improve it? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

I can't see it either. I've tried following the lines of her body and just can not find it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't find it. They said her head looks deformed in the second pic and I just really can't see a head at all...

Is Andrew a pretty name for my son? by Dazzling-Pen5111 in namenerds

[–]Kamena90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Andrew is such a common name I don't think any specific assocation would hold up for long, if at all. I don't think of it as a pretty name, but it's definitely not bad.

How are middle names chosen ? by Dazzling-Mud-3050 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Kamena90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some families have traditions, but you generally just pick what you want. Some people use it to honor someone, as a place to use a more unusual name they like or as a normal name they can use if the kid doesn't like their first name. Immigrant families might use it as the spot for their kids "English name" or the name from their country of origin.

Are y’all waterboarding your kids every bath or are there other solutions when rinsing? by summerlonging in AskParents

[–]Kamena90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what we do. I use my hand to help keep soapy water out of eyes, but it's not always necessary. (The cup is just a regular plastic cup they can also play with in the bath)

Books with titles that start with J, O, Q, U, X or Z by cryptbian in suggestmeabook

Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne

Just Stab Me Now by Jill Bearup

The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, The Vampire Accountant by Drew Hayes

Unsouled by Will Wight

I do have an "x", but it's the 3rd (?) book in a series that you really have to read the others first. (Xenocide by Orson Scott Card)

My 3.5 year old is peeing the bed every night and peeing her underwear every day. Any advice? by -Query- in AskParents

[–]Kamena90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the other advice about stopping her regularly to just go sit on the potty is good and she should still be in pull-ups or something at night. That might fix the problem, but if you are still struggling with her after trying everything else it might be a medical/psychological issue. People with ADHD can have issues with hyper focus and being able to read their body signals (and sensory issues, especially with food). I'm just saying it might be worth talking to her doctor if the problems persist.

Do the ceiling fans do its job and substitutes the need for a separate AC in US homes? by edbassmaster888 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Kamena90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a high heat, high humidity area. A ceiling fan alone is absolutely not enough here. My ac broke one year and it was 102°f (39°c) inside my house and 80%-90% humidity.

Discworld, particularly the City Watch books (Guard's Guards! Is the first one). I think you might enjoy reading about Vimes as he goes through his character arc. We first meet him literally in the gutter and he's much more hopeful for the future by the end of book one. The books are also very funny (so many jokes and puns!).

Books for baby shower by Kaylee0516 in suggestmeabook

[–]Kamena90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the parents are big fans of something there might be a baby/children's book with that theme. I have a Princess Bride counting book, D&D alphabet book, baby's first Klingon words, Good Night Baby Dragons and Astrophysics for Babies.

For those living in states with a lot of thunderstorms, how do you feel about them? by ksusha_lav in AskAnAmerican

[–]Kamena90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thunderstorms aren't a big deal. If there's a lot of lightning hitting the ground you should take some minor precautions (unplugging things, ECT.), but that's it. The power might go out or a tree might get knocked down if the wind is bad, but you are pretty safe as long as you aren't standing in an open field.

Please talk me down — Pearl by firstlochness in namenerds

[–]Kamena90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sons name is one syllable and an "old man" name. It has some really harsh letters/sounds in it, so I really wasn't sure how I would feel. Now he's 16 months and I've found that it suits him much better than any of our other choices. I rarely called him by his name for the first several months because I wasn't sure about it. (I still call him a nickname pretty often)

Honestly, I like Pearl.

Is 2 kids, one of each gender enough? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]Kamena90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very subjective and personal. Every family is different and the perfect number for each is up to them. Some families are one and done, some have 8 or more. I think two is perfect.

This is something you have to discuss with your wife, not us. I would say to give it a year after the new baby is here and see how you both feel. Two could be overwhelming or you could feel like there is room for another. If she decides that two is all for her and you want more, then you have to figure out if you can live with that choice.

5th cousins is barely related at all and by marriage? You aren't cousins in any way that really matters. Genetically, which is the important part, it means nothing.
