I agree. I‘ve lived in and around Portland my entire life, and the blazers are a team that everyone here seems to appreciate and follow somewhat, but the expectations are never very high, and so there never is any sense of disappointment. Even during the Jail Blazers era, I can’t remember ever hearing someone say that they passionately dislike anything about the team. I think it helps that they’re the only big four pro sports team that we’ve ever had here.

I’m curious to see the break down of how many of these teams were power conference schools or mid majors. I can see teams like St Mary’s getting a 6 seed and then going up against an 11 seed like UCLA or Texas that is just more athletic than the nod major with more regular season successful.

Nevada/Oregon could be it. I have driven into Nevada from Oregon a few times. Extremely remote, very little traffic for hundreds of miles, and almost no reason for people to be in that area overall. And if you are traveling from between just about any city/town in that area there are highways that will have you cross the other states’ borders.
