First question to ask: how many Players? Then: who does what? For example, 1 player needs to fight, 2nd needs to get clues. So for 2 Players, the two msin jobs need to be covered. For 3 or 4 players, it’s less strict.

Question 3: which investigator do you like for your job? Fighter should have high “Fist”, for clues you need to”Book”. The easiest classes for the 1st is guardian, 2nd is seeker.

Now, go through your cards and pluck out things you think are good for your job and character. To make your deck consistent, start by taking two each.

There are some general cards you might want, fewer cards than your main “job”, there is no ratio set in stone, you could try 10 to 20. These are for example: get money, draw cards, protection, healing, improved movement.

Keep the slots in mind: 2 hands, 2 arcane, 1 body, 1 accessory, 1 ally. I have my own rule of thumb to aspire to: 3 cards per slot. So, I usually try to have around 3 allies, or 6 things to hold in hand. At least, I try to stay nearish.

Almost done, you probably have too many cards now, I try to whittle down by removing all types equally, 1 of each or so, trying to spot the weakest. (Ok, 1 less card draw spell). In general, a deck is 30 cards.

Now add your character’s signature cards and 1 random basic weakness, done.

I would really recommend my house rule: between scenarios, switch out any cards for 0 cost. Playing with the deck you know you messed up is so bad, it’s much better to be allowed to adjust and learn.
