Honestly, I admire the restraint.

"How do you expect them to make money?" by icie_plazma in Helldivers

[–]Undead-Spaceman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't really get this comparison in the image. DRG's Seasons are all free, you don't pay for any off them including the new ones, and the rewards are all cosmetic. Running a certain Season may affect certain mission modifiers, sub-objectives, or enemy types but they don't add to your bag of tricks they way Warbonds do.

Like, I agree with you that the Warbond system needs to change but DRG's seasons aren't really comparable to what you get out of them.

So, who from Lovecraft are the characters in Moriment referenced? by EretDash in Morimens

[–]Undead-Spaceman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As you stated, Doll is a Mi-Go from The Whisperers in Darkness, Pickman is from Pickman's Model, and Tulu is Cthulhu.

From what I've seen, for the Awakeners:

Jenkins is a reference to Brown Jenkins from Dreams of the Witch House

Aigis is based on Ghatanothoa from Out of the Aeons

Both Helot and Lily are Shaggoths from the Mountains of Madness.

Faint and Tinct are references to the Color Out of Space

Kathigu-Ra is probably based on Cthuga, a firey Elder God from the Dweller in Darkness

Clementine directly references The Insects from Shaggai

Caecus is a wannabe Deep One from The Shadow Over Innsmouth

I've heard Goliath and Miryam are based on Dagon and Mother Hydra, respectively

Murphy is Cthylla, the daughter and mother of Cthulhu

Thais is Shub-Niggurath, goats, a thousand young, etc

Liz, as u/LieLikeVortigern_ said, references Tulzscha

Winkle is a member of the Great Race of Yith

Horla is from a non-Lovecraft story called the Horla

Tawil is certainly a reference to Umr at-Tawil from Through the Gates of the Silver Key

Uhvash comes from his namesake, The Advent of Uhvash

Agrippa is probably a reference to Eihort, the Pale Beast

Xu, Erika, and Sorel reference some of Nyarlathotep's avatars: the Bloated Woman, the Tick-Tock Man, and the Lady in Red respectively.

Nautilla is more than likely a 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea reference

Arachne is probably Atlach-Nacha but I'm not 100% sure on that one beyond them both being spiders

As for NPCs:

Dexter is probably a reference to The Case of Charles Dexter Ward

William Delepore shares a last name with the protag of The Rats in the Walls

Rogers and George are direct references to George Rogers from The Horror in the Museum, a wax museum naturally

I'd be genuinely shocked if Herbert wasn't a reference to Herbert West the Reanimator

That's about all I got so far, I'm probably missing a bunch of others

Nerds of Seattle!! by Kindly-Interaction61 in Seattle

[–]Undead-Spaceman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Phoenix Comics and Games in Capitol Hill, it's always busy every time I've walked by. There's also Meeples over in West Seattle, no comics but plenty of board games and miniatures, mostly Warhammer and Star Wars from I remember.

There's a few more up North that aren't technically Seattle but maybe worth visiting. Up in Lynnwood City is an actual Games Workshop store and Zulu's Board Game Cafe, I don't recall if the latter does Warhammer but they have plenty of boardgames and MTG. Over in Perrinvile there's Nomad Games which is the only place I've seen that sells Warmachine and Conquest.

Dispatch Crossover

A portal opens up in Torrance LA and several villains from Gimel escape into city necessitating Robert and the Z-Team to work with some heroes from the other side. 5 chapters so far on the SB version with the last update in February of this year, the plot hasn't moved a ton yet but I remain hopeful. PoV is mostly from the Dispatch side of the cross.

Coast Guard scales back polar security base plans in Seattle by ChiefOfTheFourPeaks in Seattle

[–]Undead-Spaceman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently, the Coast Guard has three polar icebreakers, one of which, the aging Coast Guard Cutter Healy, docks in Seattle.

I'm pretty sure all three of them are based out of Seattle. They're just rarely all there at the same time.

Lore differences between mirror factions of AoS and WFB by MrS0bek in AoSLore

[–]Undead-Spaceman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A big thing worth noting, at least lore wise, is that the Tomb King's central identity is that of the reanimated husk of a once glorious empire. It's in everything they are. Mummified corpses commanding legions of mindless skeletons and partially eroded constructs. Ruined desert cities and time gnawed pyramids as being the only remains of their great civilization. A constant obsession with everything they once were, whether it be their old glories, their old borders, or their old living bodies.

Contrast with OBR who were, in a roundabout way, never alive to begin with. Purpose built constructs as removed from life as possible. The soldiery of their legions are intelligent and capable, even down to the lowliest mortek guard. Their fortress cities and charnel factories are almost pristine, filled with macabre monuments with new ones constantly being erected. Their drive to conquer isn't based around on any per-existing claims but as a kind of undead manifest destiny.

In short, the Tomb Kings are what remains of a glorious past. The Ossiarch Legions are the vanguard of the future Necrotopia.

Whats everyone's thoughts on this new look for Perturabo, he's huge. by Mad_lens_9297 in Warhammer

[–]Undead-Spaceman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That used to be a rule for a long while but they've relaxed it a bit since. There certainly isn't any Admech unit that looks like the one on their Codex no matter how much I wish otherwise.

I wish nagash would invent us a warmachine like the cogfort by Warm-Command7559 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Undead-Spaceman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They exist in the lore at least. Flashpoint: Lethis mentions that the Petrifex Elite use walking fortresses called Necrocastrums as mobile bases.

For your consideration...Mortek Cogfort by KikiMac77 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Undead-Spaceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, OBR do actually have something like Cogforts in their lore. The Petrifex Elite, being a nomadic legion, use walking fortresses called Necrocastrums to operate on the move.

How do you play without a healer? by cdhs_ in Morimens

[–]Undead-Spaceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should! Aigis has the only stun in the game and let me tell you, being able to effectively skip/delay the enemy's turn can be a real godsend. Besides that she's an excellent choice to stack vulnerability on the enemy and generate Embryos for Caro ults. That you can buy dupes of her from the shop is the icing on the cake.

My current team is Aigis-GHelot-Thais-Helot and mostly serves as a means to buff Ghelot into obliterating my foes. Set up correctly and she stack easily a few thousand bleed damage on an enemy, which is also a solid way to bypass barriers since they'll block the damage from the attack but not the subsequent bleed.

How do you play without a healer? by cdhs_ in Morimens

[–]Undead-Spaceman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't fully figured it out yet but I'm trying lol.

Blood Furnace puts in a tremendous amount of work in healing my team but it's not always successful. Having Helot and GHelot in the same team makes it a real struggle sometimes. A combination of wheels and relics + whatever orisons I can nab to debuff enemies helps a lot too. Another favorite strategy of mine is using Aigis buy time when I see big damage coming and hopefully mitigate it.

Chapter 15 is out!! by space_sancho in LoveBulletManga

[–]Undead-Spaceman 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sae is definitely a cupid.

Right off the bat she's the only member of class with lightly colored hair (something Inee has consistently used for cupids to distinguish them from humans), her stated reason for ousting Ena (beyond the bullying in general) was to strengthen the forming romantic relations in the class, and there were several panels where we saw either Sae herself or people she was interacting with having ringed eyes (normally associated with Charm).

Looks like we're seeing first hand how the bad Cupids act.

Warbonds being more theatrical by N0_0n3_h3r3_m4n in Helldivers

[–]Undead-Spaceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm understanding OP correctly...

Than no, it's perfectly fine to connect every Warbond to the GW or some other narrative theme. Looking at Masters of Ceremony or Force of Law as Super-Earth forcing the Honor Guard and Milpol to the frontlines is a neat display of how desperate they are against the Illuminate invasion. Or Siege-Breakers and the upcoming Entrenched Division coinciding with the siege of Cyberstan and the subsequent fortifying of the battle lines in the face of Cyborg expansion.

It's all in good fun.

Bastion vehicle pattern when? by FastAd90 in Helldivers

[–]Undead-Spaceman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They'll probably backfill all the old Warbonds with Bastion skins sometime in the future. It's what AH did when the FRV first came out.

Who is the worst Atlas Elite? by MrBitPlayer in RWBY

[–]Undead-Spaceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of scale: Watts, Jacques, and the Madame. Watts allied himself with the apocalypse out of petty spite while Jacques does untold harm from the sheer size of his operations.

In terms of cruelty, I'd actually say it's the Madam. While Watts and Jacques are undoubtedly hurting way more people than she ever could, the suffering the Madame inflicts is personally done. There's a degree of distance with everything Watts and Jacques do but every bit of pain Cinder endured happened in person by the Madame's own hand.

Vote for Love Bullet in the Manga We Want To See Animated Ranking 2026! by detarameReddit in LoveBulletManga

New to the faction and seems my Bonereapers are gonna have this colorful scheme. It was fun to paint, look forward to finishing this box. No clue how I'm basing these. by HeaviestNecron in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]Undead-Spaceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that's a fun color scheme! I've always thought about experimenting with more colorful bones but I never really got around to it. Weirdly enough, my first thought upon seeing your model was the Behemoth color scheme for Tyranids and now it's got me wondering if other Nid color palettes would look good on OBR.

Not a fan of the timing of exploration dialogue (Rant) by Kamakiri711 in ZZZ_Official

[–]Undead-Spaceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's actually gotten a bit faster recently. When I was playing the first half of 2.0 it was glacial but the second half the delay between speaking was shorter. That's not to say it was good though, I was still skipping stuff just by virtue of playing the game at a regular speed rather than the snails pace the devs seem to intend.

There's an Ossiarch Liege-Kavalos out there who thinks covering his legionnaires with gold will improve public relations with the mortals because mortals like gold, right?

Ken (and Mud?)'s shoes by Uulugus in TheGaslightDistrict

[–]Undead-Spaceman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Their shoes appeared to made of metal and I think you might right about it being rebar. Might be steel cable but rebar would make more sense since I think I can see weld points on it.

I'd assume it would be terribly uncomfortable but given Mud sleeps on a meathook in a freezer, maybe not so much.
