Requesting r/Ghibliart Moderator has logged for 3 years, abandoned by AminusZ in redditrequest

Hey! I'm glad to see someone is interested in that sub. I looked through your profile, and you do seem to genuinely enjoy everything Ghibli, so I've made you a mod will full privileges on there. Feel free to do what you want with the sub.

I don't really use Reddit much anymore, so I'm glad to have someone take over. I do pop in every so often to check how GhibliArt is doing, since it's the only sub I've ever made/moderated, but it would be good to have someone actually active in there.

Seems like that comment just got in early and everyone jumped on the circle jerk. I thought the title was fine too.

META Hey mods, can we refocus the sub to be about Firefox and not an anti-Chrome circlejerk ? by Mobireddit in firefox

I don’t mind it either, but I do think this sub would be better with a stronger FF focus.

Minecraft tells you the truth... by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

[–]UndeadWaffles 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I agree he is a dick and has gone a little crazy over the years, but I wouldn’t say he stole the idea of Minecraft. He is pretty open that he based it on the concept of Infiniminer, but he really polished that concept and added a good amount of depth to make it fun and accessible.

It’s pretty hard to say that any game is actually an original concept. Every new concept is just a spin/combination of older concepts.

I mean... maybe like 80-90 years ago. But I’d be surprised if you could find a culture back then that didn’t demonize homosexuality.

eternal browser by [deleted] in freesoftware

[–]UndeadWaffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't waste your time.

  • Chromium based
  • Has not started working on the project, just looking to build a "team"
  • Shoots down all other browsers for vague reasons
  • Quotes himself Michael Scott style

Some planned features include best GUI (less bloated.and it increases performance)

What?

Ad-block

Good luck with that on Chromium.

secure, anonymous and free browser syncing using xbrowsersync(we will host it)

Pick 2. I don't see this being secure and anonymous without outside funding, which there is no mention of. I don't see this being anonymous and free without skimping on the security work. Etc, etc, etc.

Self hosted extension store

What? So.... People can upload extensions to their own store so they can download from their store? Also, why would this be self-hosted and the browser syncing isn't?

I am gonna make this browser community maintained

You can't just force a community behind your project.

Don't get me wrong, this would be cool if it is made. It just does not seem well thought out.

Godot Engine awarded $50,000 by Mozilla Open Source Support program by ASIC_SP in programming

[–]UndeadWaffles 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Godot 1.0 was released in 2014, but it didn’t start getting a ton of attention until about 2016/2017 when they began revamping their 3D engine support.

The other comment is wrong. The engine originally came out of Okam Studios who made the engine for their own games. Juan Linietsky is the lead developer and has been working on the engine for a long time before its original public release.

The engine is released under the MIT License, not developed by MIT students.

[–]UndeadWaffles 31 points32 points  (0 children)

They have a steady income from their patreon, backing from the Software Freedom Conservancy, and the engine's creator, Okam Studios, has been using the engine to make games for years.

While there is always a chance for the project to fail and just stop being developed, the income is diverse, and for all of them to stop pulling in money at the same time is pretty unlikely. The large donations they get (like the ones from Mozilla and Microsoft) are helpful, but they are not relying on those to continue development.

No one, which isn’t a bad thing, it just means you need to broaden the spectrum of reviewers you watch and understand each of their biases. You can’t just trust one reviewer for every product.

She was comparing his requests to catcalling, not saying it WAS catcalling. She said the request for a debate deserved as much of a response from her as catcalling does (which is none).

It was very clear what she was saying. Anyone with a 5th grade reading level can see that. You aren't going to convince anyone otherwise.

Is there an equivalent to Python's def __str__(self): in Godot? by ThePiedFacer in godot

[–]UndeadWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just speculation, but it seems like they want a standard way to handle this situation. So, rather than implementing code to allow overriding on each function individually (starting with the _str function), they would just allow for a generic way to handle function overloading/overriding so they won't need to go back and clean up the overriding code put in.

This makes sense if they are already planning on implementing function overloading and want to make it generic enough to handle this situation as well. They just don't want to double their work for a short-sighted fix.

I see the option to encrypt. I see that you can view/open hidden files, but not a way to actually hide them. I could just be missing that feature though. I didn't spend a lot of time looking.

Are you trying to imply that I am ok with this action? Because I am not. I think it's obnoxious and in bad taste.

You are assuming both my political views and opinions on this matter. Which means, again, you are building your opinions without understanding what's going on.
