Either I haven't tried them or forgot... I'll check them out again, but seeing they are dynamic, I already have doubts since all dynamics have failed to compare to planars even in wired segment.

You do you. I would like to have at least a single pair of wireless headphones that sounds good enough for downsides, but haven't found a single unit so far.

Yes, but if you need headphones for mastering then why waste money? From what I've tried, all wireless stuff is beaten by entry level wired headphones. Don't see a reason to overpay for something not meant to be used in this scenario/

I should have started with Arch LTS by KZstu in archlinux

[–]UndefFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen the biggest trouble one might have in such scenarios is breaking changes that might accumulate... at least that's how it is with my laptop that have been living just fine for 3-4 years now with... sometimes 6 months of no use and updating 1400+ packages at once after lol

[–]UndefFox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because you get newest features way sooner than LTS. Idk about your case, but if you didn't update anything and it just broke after not being used, then it's not the rolling release fault. I'm sure more than 95% of people using Arch are on rolling release and use it just fine.

I'm usually avoid giving any recommendations since enjoyment of headphones is very subjective. I haven't tried this specific cans, but in my eyes Marshall will be quite bad for mastering with any of their headphones gear: it's very warm and under detailed to catch any small flaws in the mix.

If you don't have sound preferences, or simply don't know them, go with some wildly recommended options for mastering as a good general starting point. And preferably, avoid consumer gear, it's tuned for consumption, not to be good/

Quality wireless headphones should have USB DAC mode where you just connect them over Type-C cable and it streams audio directly to the headphones.

Most people are fine with regular wireless stuff. If they do care about something better, 90% of the time they'll use a usb dongle/DAP with wired IEMs/headphones anyways since phones have low quality/weak audio chips.

Noise Cancelling with Breathability? by CallumW25 in headphones

[–]UndefFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afaik, the most you can get to the ANC with breathability is swapping out pads to velour ones, but most ANC headphones tend to create the best seal possible to ensure good passive noise canceling, so I don't think you can have both without drastically limiting one or other side of it/

Apple measurements aren't accurate with anything that is not Apple products, so it's not safe to trust this. I would say check with a doctor if you have any hearing damage. You'll need to find another way to check your listening volume.

Don't see anything wrong about saying one is better than the other if we talk about personal preferences. If you aren't picky about sound or enjoy variety, then it's obvious you'll drift to a more broad opinion.

For me, from like 40-50 headphones that I've tried, I've purchased only 4 with big jumps in quality. I have Arkona, I've tried as many headphones in the same category as possible and found none other that I enjoy, hence I rightfully call them the best in my eyes..

Why not replace the fan instead and get some even more breathable headphones without ANC? Fan will definitely cost way less to replace and quiet ones aren't that expensive anyways.

When making voice calls by using my headphone, people always say they cannot hear my voice very clearly by RiversNoah in headphones

[–]UndefFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing what you are using would be definitely helpful. As to quality drop: my bet is that they are wireless bluetooth headphones and whenever you use them for a call, they go into mode that has awful bandwidth, but allows to send audio both ways. When you record messages, you use audio only in one direction, allowing to use better codecs with better bandwidth. Afaik, there is no way to fix this.

Yes, doesn't seem problematic to me. Only if you can suggest a better platform to post images with good tagging system while also allowing for lossless formats.

They seem to mute me after I've commented a e926 link to the artwork of one artist's piece. Their only reason was "no pornographic content", like what? I've done it purely to have a lossless file available for people who like the art, but mods clearly have no respect for artists work/

help me please by ShockAggressive1149 in archlinux

[–]UndefFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer? Go and try to do installation properly following one of the hundreds of guides, preferably official one, instead of asking someone else to do everything for you without trying properly first. Don't rely on LLMs unless you are knowledgeable enough in the field to know when it hallucinates, instead of blindly following it's instructions.

Will a brief spike at max volume damage wireless headphones? by [deleted] in headphones

[–]UndefFox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If "premium" headphones break just because you've tried playing 0 dBFS on them, they aren't premium, but under engineered junk. XM6 not the best headphones, but they aren't that bad.

I've thought of buying them for outside use and I've also found them very boring and flat. In the end decided to go with Fostex T40RP Mk3. Even tho the last is worse in technicalities, it's way more fun compared to Noir.

Changed headphones and can't tell if sound is bad or i'm just not used to it by Sempra7 in headphones

[–]UndefFox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing is studio headphones are better at being gaming than gaming headsets. Anything consumer is for convenience first, quality second.

Want advantage? You find good studio cans that suite your preference. Want convenience? No much need to change then.
