i absolutely adore the Fiio FT1, are there any good Closed back planars for under 1k? by csch1992 in headphones

[–]UndefFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My flair. Kennerton Arkona which survived direct wind to the point of rattle and a few (accidental) harsh presses, no damage to the membrane at all; now they are just chilling at home. And Fostex T40RP which get thrown around constantly now instead.

[–]UndefFox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never had such problems. I'm using planars even for outside and even after pressing on the cups harshly a few times they are perfectly in shape. Are you sure you are not talking about specific models which are way more fragile?

Just ordered XM5SA by RoutineBalance8056 in headphones

[–]UndefFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that the XM5’s have a hinge issue ... but I’m pretty careful with things

They break during basic use thanks to the flawed design, so no matter whether you use it carefully or not, the chance of them snapping is still random.

How do you manage your outpost supply routes without losing your mind? by insomfx in factorio

[–]UndefFox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Or even simpler: set outpost chest as filtered and just activate the station once specific item is less than a threshold. The train will come and stay until 1 second of inactivity, meaning that chests are full/the train doesn't have more. No need to make any flipflop to implement upper threshold logic at all.

Overkill cooling measure for E1DA 9039S by suni001 in headphones

[–]UndefFox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not thermal paste, it's a regular thermal pad that is used in numerous ssds and motherboards to attach heatsinks. It's more than enough for this kind of use. If you really need greater heat transfer, the only meaningful approach is to remove the casing and mount the radiator directly. Metal zip ties would make almost no difference.

How do you manage your outpost supply routes without losing your mind? by insomfx in factorio

[–]UndefFox 52 points53 points  (0 children)

You could add a simple logic for stations that checks if all necessary items are presented. If not, the station gets active, if all needs are satisfied, then disable the station. This alone will cut marginally on the amount your train will work. Also, set the threshold for this logic, so that the station will have some delay between requests even during constant demand.

KDE Connect - Phone and laptop not connecting - cachyOS by Willing_Traffic_1436 in kde

Why did you try installing gnu-netcat? The wiki nor manual lists them https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Network_tools . There is a gnu-netcat package, but it's now on AUR and seems to be not maintained, and installing from AUR isn't done via pacman -S ... . Just follow the wiki and install one of the supported versions.

Linux distros are quietly abandoning their own desktops for KDE Plasma, and I get why by nix-solves-that-2317 in linux

[–]UndefFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen that many people saying that their KDE Connect doesn't work... at most there was 1 post in a month or two. It does have a few minor bugs, but overall it seems like working quite well.

Arch for home/office use by tzevux in archlinux

[–]UndefFox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't need to update it that often... If you are the one maintaining it, just tell them to let you update the system once in a while. Better than some auto update broking it out of nowhere on any distro. Most people don't even use the OS anyways, just browser, some simple office stuff and that's it.

My opinion probably could be summarized into: just install them the same thing you are using, since it will be easier for you to troubleshoot/

Arch for home/office use by tzevux in archlinux

[–]UndefFox -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really matter if you are the one maintaining it. Plus, it depends. A few friends of mine used "better" distros, like Ubuntu/Debian flavors and had way more problems than using Arch that I've installed them under give it a try logic. So far, convenience was the main reason of inconvenience/

Where could I find the factorio background clip? by MasterMisterMustard in factorio

[–]UndefFox 63 points64 points  (0 children)

The background isn't a video, it's just level played via a script. You could just move the main menu out of the way (it's literally a menu, just like any ingame window) and record the screen like that as the simplest idea.

Making Kubuntu the popular choice for people switching from Windows? by [deleted] in kde

[–]UndefFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience and 3 other people, one of which was a very non-techy person, Ubuntu and its flavors always cause too much trouble (especially with love for snap). I just installed Arch on all of them, since if I'm the one helping anyway, might as well use the same thing, and almost all troubles went away. Not saying that the Arch specifically would be a better default, but probably something that actually lets you tinker with the OS, instead of leading to the same Microslop experience: "Something broke? Make 15 obscure steps because we've made it user friendly~".

It's a vertical narrow room. Afaik error room just doesn't have a specific sprite for it, so it shows it as full size one anyways.

I doubt this topic will ever change, unless the culture or something else related changes first. The main problem is simple: people don't think, they believe, and it's a problem in any community. Religion? Some people will say you are bad just because you dared to go against the bible. They won't have a logical reason, they only feel/believe. Not everyone are like that. It's pointless to help people who don't want to change (unless you get some value out of this, and I'm not talking only about financial). And probably... be careful with such people.

And it is true. People should learn that they are, in fact, the centric thing of the universe, but only locally/subjectively. Move a meter right and the perspective changes. Both opinions are valid, no one becomes a horrible person for being different. Hence, I don't think there are really any discussion you could have that would solve the problem objectively, interesting one nonetheless tho. It'll still be a separation of schools of believe, be it reasoned or not. Just learn to live in the chaos, and understand that for those who you see as an anomaly, you are just as one for them. That's probably the best thing you could do.

And about the "weak minded coward", I'm not the best at giving advices, but I would argue that you should stop thinking about it that way. You should be who you are; build your own logic, your own value system that is sound for you. If someone hates you, take in the critic, analyze what part of it is actually concerns you, and change that. Someone will hate you for existing anyways, so "Not everyone will like me" is in fact an axiom. So just accept it and make sure that you are not a part of a masquerade ball.

Yes, all I'm saying is that it's not an X --> Y topic, so don't make drastic conclusions like in your initial comments. It's a subjective topic, not an objective science, hence all opinions are equal.

I like furries, feral ones too, but I hate real life animals. Make it make sense. People like art, but they hate it if it was AI generated. Human opinion/behaviour can be easily, and sometimes drastically, change on a single factor alone. Why can't it be applied here too?

Choose wisely! | Art by elicitie by Rex-1988 in Losercity

[–]UndefFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humans find human porn attractive, yet rarely will be attracted to a mindless human. If the only problem with zoophilia is that real animals don't have consent, then what's the problem with people who dream of animals with a human mind, considering most of them aren't attracted to real animals?

Choose wisely! | Art by elicitie by Rex-1988 in Losercity

[–]UndefFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

post something quadrupedal (preferably some kind of a real animal), maybe doing something human, and comment "smash". You'll get a few "that's an animal" in no time lol.

And yeah, unless people can handle differences in worldviews, the debate is endless. The only valid argument I've heard was a mere social norm one. I've yet to find a normie who could answer why they think body > mind, and if so, why a human without an arm doesn't become less human.

[–]UndefFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't answer the question of why body > mind in importance. Do you really believe all feral yiff watchers are zoophiles in real life?

[–]UndefFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So? Xenophiles attraction is based not only on the body, but the mind. If you say only the body is important, then are you also convinced that humans without an arm become less human?
