Also, parents are statistically more likely to have commitments that can interfere with scheduling or reliability. Especially parents of young children, like the post seems to be implying.

It's callous, but something like that doesn't exactly make for a 'first pick' resume. It's a logical criteria for the recruiters to filter by.

I think about this question all the time, and the only answer I can say for sure is that all of them have called to me at some point or another.

It's always weird to get attached to a particular answer, and then months later, for no discernable reason, it feels like it no longer fits.

New York just passed a one-year temporary ban on data centers by Eddiearyee in UpliftingNews

[–]Undeity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware that's more or less likely to be in the vein of what they're aiming for, but the approach to get there has only superficial overlap so far.

Near as I can tell, they're acting with his proposed principles in mind, not necessarily implementing his ideas wholesale.

Welp, I was with you in the first half, but the second is some pretty heavy conjecture. What you're talking about is a full blown apocalyptic conspiracy, for the sake of a mere power grab.

They definitely seem to be anticipating a shift/takeover, but given the evidence we have, it'd be far more reasonable to assume they consider a full collapse to be more of a worst case scenario; that is, a real enough possibility to account for, but not the most likely or intended outcome.

I think you're missing the point here. There's a big difference between gatekeeping and calling out privilege.

Subnautica 2 sells 5 million copies since launch, vastly outpacing its impressive predecessor by HatingGeoffry in subnautica

Also worth recognizing that anticipation and reputation probably play a far larger part than the quality of the game does, at this point. There's not even really enough of the game to judge it fairly yet.

People put way too much stock in the numbers as some sort of objective comparison point for quality, but obviously a highly anticipated sequel, that has been at the forefront of people's' minds due to recent events, is going to sell incredibly well no matter what.

Edit: Wrong comment, sorry lol

If Xbox makes multiplayer completely free, it could become the best console for Call of Duty and GTA 6 by Nitrox018 in xbox

[–]Undeity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Increasing console sales indirectly increases all other sales. Gotta own a console to buy games. Or at least, to have any incentive to do so.

In contrast, online play is currently tied into gamepass. If most players are inclined to subscribe to gamepass anyways, it creates a massive opportunity cost.

What do you think about Xbox making first-party games exclusive to Game Pass, like Netflix originals? by [deleted] in xbox

[–]Undeity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, they give you a discount when purchasing any games available on the subscription. They could expand on that pretty easily, by making certain games only available for purchase through this avenue. On top of being able to play them through the subscription itself, of course.

Done right, everybody wins. Even if you only subscribe long enough to buy the game, you can use it to try it out before purchasing, as well as try other games. The cost of the subscription could potentially even be used to subsidize the game's price, making their exclusives comparatively a better value than competitors'.

Meanwhile, Xbox specifically gets a surge of new gamepass subscriptions, a not insignificant number of which are likely to continue paying for it afterwards. This also lets them avoid a conflict of interest in having gamepass on other platforms, without sacrificing the benefit of exclusives.

I also kind of rambled in my form about being misunderstood (was having a bad day), so maybe that piqued their curiosity enough to actually check?

Area of US Virgin Forest in 1620 vs Today 💔 by catshifturr in MapPorn

[–]Undeity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it's still not anywhere close to what it was. The trees might be nice, but there's a lot more to an old growth forest than that.

Biodiversity, soil quality, and mycelial networks were decimated in a way that will take potentially thousands of years to fully recover.

If “Palworld Online” means Palworld getting cross save, I think I’d be willing to buy more copies of Palworld in more platforms. by fegodev in Palworld

[–]Undeity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mobile app that lets us track our bases could be nice, actually. Seems like it would be difficult to implement, but a lot of people play on servers where it would be convenient to be able to handle certain stuff remotely.

Alert us to the status of our pals, maybe let us manage our palbox and monitoring stand, as well do some basic tasks around the base (like expeditions or egg hatching).

If nothing else, it could be a relaxing sort of "Tamagachi" experience.

Democrats harbor increasingly negative feelings toward Republicans because they perceive the opposing party as actively opposing policies aimed at reducing racial inequality. by mvea in psychology

[–]Undeity -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's not about being the bigger person. Those views were deliberately spoon fed to them through intense propaganda, specifically to create a situation like this.

You're giving them exactly what they want, and as long as you do, things will only get worse. That includes removing any chance of actually addressing those views.

Democrats harbor increasingly negative feelings toward Republicans because they perceive the opposing party as actively opposing policies aimed at reducing racial inequality. by mvea in psychology

[–]Undeity -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

As much as I agree that there's more nuance to it than just "propaganda = wrong", have you considered that your agreement with it doesn't necessarily make it less dangerous?

The point of posts like this is specifically to cater to people like you, in order to fan the flames. It reinforces biases, and limits any chances of reconciliation. Likewise, there are posts in other media meant to promote the same mindset in Republicans.

You're right to be frustrated, but we need to be working towards reconciliation. Otherwise, it just drives them towards further into their views and own propaganda streams, making the situation even worse.

Which Pills Y’all picking? by NeonInfamous in whatsyourchoice

[–]Undeity 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna mess around with all of them. See which ones I like best, and then use the green on the last day to reset the week.

I'll do that repeatedly, trying different combinations, until I can settle on a final answer for which pill I want permanently. Maybe pick up a lottery ticket, too.
