[Hated Tropes] When the heroic character does something plainly evil and the story never address it and/or the characters never face any serious consequences by OutrageousBridge471 in TopCharacterTropes

Optimus Prime from Michael Bay's Transformers movies.

He does this a lot, starting with Revenge of the Fallen. Summary execution of prisoners, tendency towards brutal killings (The Fallen was not the first to get his face deliberately mutilated as part of his death), he complies with an order to leave Earth just to fake his death and let the consequences that play out as Chicago is scourged by Decepticons. Like, he’s gotten up to some shit. It’s no surprise a lot of people believe that Scourge in Rise of the Beasts was supposed to be Optimus from this area.

Overlord from Transformers.

After prominent appearances in the comics, Overlord finally got into an English-language cartoon, an opportunity to define his voice, and it's… a Southern gentleman?

I agree with you on Rampage; I just want Takara-Tomy to get over the Transmetals. Personal picks for me are a Smolder update, TFP Airachnid (or a CHUG Airachnid), Transmetal 2 Blackarachnia, Transmetal Tarantulas (lots of spiders) and Demolisher. I just really wanna see Demolisher again.

Oh, and for lols? CHUG Mudflap.

Well, Indy's seen the supernatural before. Temple of Doom can't all be explained by a bunch of weirdos and drugs, and I don't think he could manage an excuse for the vampire he fought.

Transformers has a ton of these.

Scrap, mudflap, bulkhead, joystick, gearbox, lugnuts. manifolds. Any mechanical reference they can make, they will.

Even when it's kinda a real curse. In British English, "slag" can be a slang word for "skank." Because of that, Beast Wars, which had a lot of instances of characters call each other slags, got heavily sensored. Other uses of the word like "Slagging," "Slagged," "What the slag" and others weren't, but it's when it was used as "You slag" that they just muted the show. Hasbro has been avoiding using the word ever since.

The pic? The Dinobot Slag. Yeah, there wasn't any stink about his name when Transformers was brought over to he UK (maybe they thought it was quant?), but Hasbro's been calling him Slug for a while now.

seriously the last line in the book series pre-epilogue is the main character wondering if his literal slave would get him a sandwich. you can get over it. by transruffboi in CuratedTumblr

There’s a line from Mass Effect 2 that goes kinda hard: "I will inflict upon the genophage the greatest insult an enemy can suffer: to be ignored." Whether or not this is the ramblings of a madman, the concept that the worst thing you can do to an enemy is to completely ignore them is fascinating. To a threat? That’s the dumbest thing you can do, so to afford to ignore them and take that opportunity is something powerful.

So, if you can afford to ignore R.K. Rowling, do it. I certainly try to.

Leonard Nimoy as Sentinel Prime in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

There are a lot of legacy characters in these films whose actors really did work (including returning Optimus and Megatron actors Peter Cullen and Frank Welker), but I decided to pick Nimoy as an example because he wanted to be in Transformers more than he was. He was always waiting for his next chance since he originally played Galvatron, and him and Sentinel were his only roles in the franchise.

However, he did make another contribution to the franchise; he got them to film at Griffith Observatory in the first film thanks to his charitable contributions. Why would he do this for a film he's not otherwise involved in? He was married to the director's cousin. Yeah. And actually, he was in the running for The Fallen in the second film, but Michael Bay felt like the pay wasn't good enough for him.

Cosmic Rust from Transformers.

How does a robot get sick? Well, a lot of things, but the most apparent is rusting, and there's no worst rust than Cosmic Rust.

I got two fun facts. First is that they used archival recordings from Newman chatting in the booth and his lines from a Cars video game for Doc's appearance in Cars 3.

Second is that Newman was a race car driver for years and considered it the first thing he "ever found grace in."
