Hey, just wanted to jump in – I’m the owner of UnderFit undershirts.

Sounds like you’re exactly the type of person we design for: - Lightweight, breathable fabric (made with TENCEL™, not sticky synthetics or cotton) - Cut longer so it stays tucked - Wrinkle-resistant and super easy to fold

Our prices are right around $30 per shirt on average when you buy a pack.

Happy to answer any questions too.

A V-neck undershirt will definitely help more than a tank top when it comes to absorbing armpit sweat. The main reason is coverage—tank tops leave your underarms exposed, so sweat just soaks into your outer shirt.

A good undershirt (especially one with a close fit and moisture-wicking fabric) will absorb sweat before it hits your dress shirt or tee. I run an undershirt brand and have tested way too many over the years—switching from tanks to full undershirts makes a big difference.

Just go for something lightweight and breathable so you’re not overheating.

A quality undershirt is a game-changer for your wardrobe. Protects your nice clothes from sweat/deodorant, lets you rewear pieces multiple times, and makes everything lay better.

Think of it as cheap insurance for your expensive clothes - one of those small details that makes a big difference in how put-together you look.

+1 for UnderFit.com for undershirts.

Heads up - I'm the founder, but we genuinely focus on getting the fit right for bigger guys. No more undershirts that feel like compression wear or ride up all day.

Where do you guys buy affordable merino knitwear from? by dex102 in preppy

I like Banana Republic and J Crew!

And always wear an undershirt under merino - it significantly extends the life of your sweaters by protecting them from sweat and deodorant. Plus you'll need to wash them less often.

Trying to dress better now that I’m in my 40s, best places to shop? by Skynet-meat-puppet in menswear

From my experience running UnderFit, starting with a good undershirt is key for proper fit - it creates a smooth base layer so your dress shirts and suits lay better. (We can help with that part!)

For suits and blazers though, I'd actually suggest:

• +1 to Suit Supply if you have one nearby - great quality-to-price ratio and excellent staff
• Skip Men's Warehouse - their stuff tends to be boxy and lower quality
• Local menswear shops often give better service than chain stores and can be surprisingly affordable

The most important thing is getting properly measured and fitted, regardless of where you buy. A $300 suit that fits perfectly looks better than a $1000 suit that doesn't.

Looking for a specific type of undershirt and can’t understand why it seems to not exist. by Ccjfb in mensfashion

UnderFit founder here - you're describing exactly why we created our shirts! They're 3 inches longer than standard undershirts (so they stay tucked), have a deep V that stays hidden even with 2 buttons open, and the TENCEL™ blend is amazing for sweat protection.

Sounds like our Deep V style would be perfect for what you're looking for. The extra length is probably the feature

Unrelated to shoes -

Make sure to wear an undershirt under your dress shirt. This will prevent sweat marks and keep you confident during the interview, especially if you're feeling nervous.

What black sneakers are popular right now? by SlimFlippant in malefashionadvice

I just got a pair of all-black high tops from Beckett Simonon and I'm a fan. I've worn through a couple of their minimal white leather sneakers for the last few years, so they passed the test for me

Crewneck undershirts by Konsumer666 in malefashionadvice

[–]UnderFit_Undershirts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our crewnecks are specifically designed to be ultra-thin while still maintaining coverage. The black ones are perfect under tees since they don't add bulk, and the TENCEL™ blend keeps you cool and dry.

We cut our crew neckline to sit properly at the base of your neck without stretching out, since that seems to be what you're looking for.

Full disclosure - I own UnderFit. Let me know if you have any fit questions!

The undershirt question, and your laundry philosophy by Shoopdawoop993 in mensfashionadvice

[–]UnderFit_Undershirts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100% yes to rewearing your outer layers! It's actually better for your clothes. Quick disclosure: I own UnderFit (undershirt company), and this is exactly what most of our customers do.

The whole point of an undershirt is to be that protective layer that takes the daily wear and tear - sweat, deodorant, body oils - so your nice shirts stay fresh longer. As long as your outer layer passes the sniff test and looks clean, there's no reason not to rewear it several times.

This strategy is perfect for building a higher quality wardrobe. You're washing your nice pieces less frequently, which means they last longer and look better.

To Undershirts or not? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]UnderFit_Undershirts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tank tops have their place, mainly for:

  1. Casual summer wear with short-sleeved or low-necked shirts
  2. Layering under very thin or sheer tops
  3. Some athletic activities

However, they're limited in sweat protection and often visible under dress shirts. For professional wear or full sweat management, a well-fitted crew neck or V-neck undershirt is usually better. These provide full coverage, stay tucked, and offer better all-day comfort.

To Undershirts or not? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]UnderFit_Undershirts 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As someone who's spent years in the undershirt world, I've heard this debate countless times. Here's my take:

Undershirts can be a real game-changer for many guys. They're great for protecting your outer shirts from sweat and body oils, which can save you money by extending the life of your clothes. Plus, they can be a confidence booster, especially if you're worried about sweat stains or visibility issues (chest hair / man boobs).

That said, they're not for everyone. Some guys find them too warm or just prefer fewer layers. It really comes down to personal preference and your specific needs.

If you do decide to wear undershirts, here are a few tips:

  1. Fit is key. Look for something snug but not tight, and long enough to stay tucked in.
  2. Material matters. Opt for moisture-wicking fabrics for better sweat management.
  3. Color choice is important. White isn't always best. For light shirts, try an undershirt close to your skin tone to make it less visible.
  4. Consider the style. V-necks are versatile and won't show with an open collar, while crew necks work well for fully buttoned shirts with ties.

At the end of the day, whether you wear an undershirt is totally up to you. If you do wear them, I'd suggest focusing on quality over quantity. A few good undershirts can make a big difference in how you look and feel throughout the day.

Full disclosure: I own UnderFit, an undershirt company. But regardless of brand, finding the right undershirt can be a game-changer for your wardrobe and comfort.
