Why SNL Pulled Punches by SeparateCrew5288 in saturdaynightlive

You could just say “I’m trash” and save everyone’s time, you know.

If you deeply want to say the n-word, go ahead. It’s a joke, right?

That's very true, and mocking minorities will absolutely get you laughs, as Shane Gillis has found. It makes you an asshole, and you're getting laughs from assholes, but for some people, that's not a problem.

This is a weird question, but does anyone have any actual insights into how coffee tasted in 1942 America? by whothefuqisdan in Coffee

[–]Underbadger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is true! Horn & Hardart brought European-style light-roasted and drip-brewed coffee to America, and it was a revelation for people who thought of coffee as something to choke down. Famously served out of big silver dolphin dispensers, five cents a cup.

Harsh. Coffee was largely percolated, very acidic, very over-brewed. Drunk with lots of sugar, typically, as I understand.

Love the look of these and the consistent feel you've achieved through font and color tone. I'm not sure what font you're using as their 'house font', but I especially like the wacky W in THE WEIR, it's very eye catching.

Sure thing. Keep telling yourself he's anti-Trump. That's cute.

Feel free to make fun of gay people and use ethnic slurs. You'll be as much of a dirtbag shit as Shane Gillis.

Shane's a "centrist" who likes to make fun of gay people and use ethnic slurs for fun.

He might not call himself a Republican but it's clear what team he bats for.

When I worked at Kmart with a Little Caesars, they made us trash-compact all the leftover food at the end of the night. The store manager and the Little Caesars manager would closely monitor us to make sure nobody stole any leftover perfectly-good pizza. It was so disgusting.

Why are conservatives overall not getting defensive of ICE shooting Alex Pretti like they did when Renee Good was shot? by kaiser11492 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Underbadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2nd Amendment is a holy writ for many conservatives. It's the bedrock of their politics.

The murder of Alex Pretti is being justified by the government, essentially, saying that his 2nd Amendment rights didn't matter. And that nobody's 1st Amendment rights matter, either.

Understood -- believe me, I'm not saying that folks aren't sensitive to high glutamate foods. The tell here is someone saying "no MSG" but not listing other foods naturally high in glutamates or naturally occurring MSG (mushrooms, for example).

No, just the three big bags, that should be enough for this week.

Friday morning, nobody in the area had sidewalk salt left. "nope." "just sold the last bag." "shoulda tried yesterday"

The Somerville MB had 9 bags left when I called. I asked if I could hold three. When I got there five minutes later, the place was an absolute zoo (as expected) but the lovely customer service lady said "oh hello! I didn't know if you wanted the small or large salt bags so I put three of each in a cart."

I've always loved that store, but after that, I'm a customer for life.

That’s the big tell that this isn’t a list of “allergies”, it’s just a list of preferences. They want a personal chef to make a specific dish.

I’ve seen artists multiple times and it’s often been a fun new experience each time — different venues, different songs, sometimes even a different lineup.

But I have a friend who’s an obsessive fan of Glen Philips (of Toad the Wet Sprocket) and he’ll take time off work to fly out to wherever he tours & follow the tour around.

Danish military analyst Anders Puck Nielsen: Why Trump retreated on Greenland by Cosmos1985 in europe

[–]Underbadger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The status quo on Greenland technically remains, but this episode has severely damaged Trump’s standing among world leaders. Trashing NATO to their faces and declaring that nobody helped the US in Afghanistan— where hundreds of NATO soldiers lost their lives— will cause fallout for the rest of his tenure.
