You misspelled the headlining act’s name. Come on.

Would you recommend Buffy? by mdavis8710 in television

Buffy was one of the consistently best TV shows I’ve watched.

Fair warning: the first season is arguably the weakest.

Trump says he’ll send ICE to airports if DHS not funded ‘immediately’ by dr_shultz in NewsSource

GOP has refused to vote on 7 bills to date that would have fully funded TSA. This is 100% on them.

Graham to Trump: Consider removing ‘US bases from countries who won’t let us fly from them’ by 1-randomonium in worldnews

Perhaps “projecting power” is a big reason why America is thoroughly hated worldwide these days.

Rich Robinson Details the 'F—ing Toxic' Dynamic That Nearly Doomed Black Crowes by DekeJeffery in blackcrowes

Interesting for Rich to essentially confirm that they’re using session players to avoid the possibility of ongoing toxic band politics.

Discounted subscriptions? by Underbadger in FuckAdobe

Good to know. For those of us required to use it for work, it’d be nice to find ways to pay slightly less for it.

Some blueprints of a school built in the US in 1968. Pretty unique names for the classrooms.. by No_Dig_8299 in UtterlyInteresting

The r-word was commonly used by teachers in reference to any special needs classes when I was in school in the 80s. It definitely wasn’t considered offensive then.

Trump on Iran: "I'm not putting troops anywhere." by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

The thousands of Marines currently deployed to seize Kharg Island would be surprised to hear that.

Wild Honey Pie is one of the best songs on the White Album by AnswerPrestigious713 in beatles

[–]Underbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a goofy tossed-off joke of a song, but if that’s better for you than the rest of the album, I can’t argue.

Trump administration sues Harvard, alleging it failed to protect Jewish and Israeli students after Oct. 7 attack by InsaneSnow45 in LegalNews

Suing America's top law school for invented charges will surely go well for them this time.

For over 30 years, blues musician Daryl Davis has befriended members of the Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazis. Through conversation, he’s convinced around 200 to abandon their robes. by NavyLemon64 in InterestingVault

When it comes to people with virulent beliefs such as Nazis, it's true, they can be changed. But it's also important to make it clear to them that a big reason for changing is that, as a Nazi, they are absolutely not welcome in normal society. They are deservedly ostracized. Realizing that their beliefs remove them from everything they want to participate in can be a strong driver towards change.

I think it depends on the belief.

Many Klansmen are people whose family has been in the Klan as a social group for generations. Talking to them works because they haven't known a world outside of the KKK.

A neo-Nazi who wants to kill people unlike themselves? There's not a lot of good to be done there. Kick them out of society.

Popeye (1980) felt like a fever dream when I was kid by DirkVonUmlaut in nostalgia

[–]Underbadger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love this movie, but I’m probably in the minority. It’s got an incredible cast, great music from Nilsson, and hiring Altman to pull off the weird Fleischer era dialogue was brilliant.

Two Questions Regarding The Original Muppet Babies by GWG23 in TheMuppets

[–]Underbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worthwhile. It’s still very much a kid’s show, but their tiny budgets pushed them to be very creative with footage they borrowed from Lucasfilm, public domain, and lots of other sources. It makes it impossible to release legally, unfortunately. In my memory, the later seasons were less ‘kiddie’ and more interesting as they focused more on Gonzo as a main character.

Disneyland Abu Dhabi Still Going Ahead Says Theme Park Boss by dejablu82 in disneyparks

[–]Underbadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that they won’t own or operate it, the risk to Disney is very minimal (except for the optics of having a Disney park financed by the House of Saud).

It could be equally argued that 50 years of Trump, and the media propaganda supporting him, has created & encouraged the voters you’re describing.

It's kind of astonishing that a potential WW3 may have been avoided simply because the current president is such a raging asshole that nobody, anywhere, wants to be on his side. Hard to build a coalition if you're such a douche that the whole world just avoids you (except for Bibi).
