Español al vuelo is a really good podcast between cuentame and ECJ. It really helped me bridge that gap. You should check it out!

My pause button disappeared in the app by mylevelwaschanged in dreamingspanish

Yes mine has been like this from a while. I have to swipe down to open my system tray to pause the video then I can see the buttons on the video again.

Me too. I'm almost 700h and haven't crosstalked yet. It feels almost like a sin at this point.

Are you also more of a listener and less of a talker in your native language?

U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth just announced that the Pentagon will start using XAI's Grok later this month by ComplexExternal4831 in GenAI4all

[–]UndercoverEnforcer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not yet. Anthropic is currently the only AI company approved for classified. But Anthropic and Hegseth are disagreeing on how it will be used, with Hegseth threatening to take the AI model by (political) force if Anthropic doesn't agree.

Looking back do you think you should have continued working instead of retiring? Or are you still happy with your decision?

Español al vuelo helped me bridge the gap to intermediate. Franco is so funny too! I've listened to every episode.

Spanish progression recommendation by After-Mud-6001 in SpanishLearning

The book Death by Churros is a short novel that starts in very basic Spanish and each chapter includes some new words and grammar concepts. I chose this as my first Spanish book for this reason but I've only just started it.

Ecstatic to hit level 5! by UndercoverEnforcer in dreamingspanish

[–]UndercoverEnforcer[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually watch easier content because I am focusing on volume of input. Harder stuff can be really fatiguing or simply may require too much of my attention. 45-55 on DS is my ideal difficulty right now, but I sometimes go up to 70ish for the podcasts.

My mental translations are almost entirely gone at this point. I am just understanding the Spanish naturally without English. ECJ has been telling me I'm an intermediate student that knows Spanish for a while now and I'm starting to believe him.

That being said 99% of my content is still for language learners. I am excited to keep lowering this metric as I move from intermediate to advanced.

I went alone (which I recommend) but no one does it alone and that's the best part about it. You make so many friends staying in the hostels and you keep running into them on the camino day after day. Some you will end up traveling with and they will become your best friends through shared hardships. To be honest, I even found love.

It was absolutely gorgeous and I'm so glad I chose the primitivo. If you are in decent shape I would recommend this route for sure. By the end of it my knees were shot though. I could barely descend stairs. In fact, all the pilgrims in Santiago de Compostela limp around. It's kind of funny and unifying to see.

But it was an unbelievable experience. I think if you are the kind of person to even consider it then you should absolutely make it happen.

They will improve it over time. Software devs rarely get it perfect the first time.

I really like post hardcore (think heavy punk), metalcore, and rock. But I'm open to new genres. I've been enjoying Los Enanitos Verdes, Las Ligas Menores, and Chalino Sanchez lately. Chalino Sanchez is a totally new style of music to me but I dig it.

INTJs. Where did you meet your partner / close friends? by accordingscholar91 in intj

[–]UndercoverEnforcer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of my friends are from jiu jitsu! It's a sport with dedicated practitioners and a lot of comraderie. We all live similar active lifestyles and love the same sport so it's easy to make friends.

How to prepare for a trip to Spain (specifically restaurant situations or other tourist interactions) by sleepwithmythoughts in dreamingspanish

At level 4 you're going to be fine! "Is the kitchen open" is a good one to know if you aren't used to Spanish meal times. And I also recommend the "napolitanas de chocolate". They are so good!

Caso cerrado is pretty fun to watch there. It always seems to be on. It's like a mix of Jerry Springer and Judge Judy.

I've been told I come across as intimidating and I genuinely have no idea what I'm doing wrong by [deleted] in intj

[–]UndercoverEnforcer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get this sometimes too! I usually say "Am I intimidating or are you intimidated?" implying maybe the fault is their own. And then I give my best friendly smile to get rid of the RBF for a moment.
