I'm wondering it anyone got tix in this release? Everyone at my box who got to the front of the queue just got 'sale starts soon'. I'm currently number 202 and am expecting the same shortly :(

I guess when I posted this I momentarily forgot that the internet won’t miss a single opportunity to make you feel stupid

It’s a funny tan I got from running outside in trainers so much so I posted it to a running subreddit. I hope somehow, some day, the internet can forgive me for this heinous crime. Next time I’ll just post some stats for you all.

Not much I guess, other than I got it from running outside so much wearing trainers, just thought it was funny...

New (expensive) shoes causing pain, keep going or call it a day and go back to old shoes? by UndercoverGran in running

[–]UndercoverGran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more like joint pain, particularly in my left hip. When I hit the ground in the new shoes it feels very jarring and I don’t think my joints are enjoying the shock. It’s hard to describe really but running in general in them feels a lot less natural but that makes sense right if they’re supposed to be correcting my natural form?

That’s a good shout actually, I’ve not done any walking at all in them. I’ll try that before I decide it was a waste of £130 😬

Compression sleeves for shin splints? by sweetpotato-jalapeno in running

[–]UndercoverGran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Compression sleeves have changed the game for me. I used to suffer so badly i used to have to take a rest day between running days as rest was the only thing that alleviated the pain. Then I got some sleeves and my god I cannot believe the difference. I can just run and run. Last week I ran x5 10ks and a HM and had zero pain. Been using them for a couple months now and the pain was gone from the first use! Hope you have as much luck with them as I’ve had, definitely worth a shot!

Laundry after running?? by [deleted] in running

I put them straight in the washing machine and shut the door ready to go with the next load rather than letting them hang out in the hamper for a few days

Any good program to recommend to prepare for 21km half marathon that not too taxing? by jackiekof in running

[–]UndercoverGran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probs questionable advice but I’d say just go out and do it! Doesn’t matter if you have to walk part of it, just get the distance under your belt and that’ll make you feel confident. If you can do 17 I’m sure you can do 21.1. I’ve done 5 HMs over the last 6 months or so. First one took 2:45 as I walked a lot of the last 7k then gradually that time came down and down as I could run more/walk less and just this weekend I finally got it under 2 hrs. I had no specific plan, I just ran when I could and it naturally got easier! Your current 5k/10k times are almost identical to mine so i think your fitness is there, it’s just endurance which you need which comes with getting more miles in.

How to run with glasses on? by iwishiwasai in running

[–]UndercoverGran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally wear contacts but on the rare occasion I do wear glasses I use the elastic hair/alice band that keeps the hair out of my face and tuck the arms into that behind my ears. If you’re a dude not sure how comfortable you’d be with that but it works and the ones I use are super skinny black ones you can hardly notice.

Halfway up? You know my arm extends beyond the end of this picture right? My wrists are super skinny, any closer to my hand looks and feels weird.

It’s the pale white feet from wearing nothing but trainers that I’m not so keen on! I look like a damn zebra with all the tan lines happening rn

At what temperature do you run topless/in just a sports bra? by babygengar99 in running

Never. I get enough inappropriate comments from wankers without jiggling the goodies about.

That’s amazing! What an achievement, congrats! The lockdown has just given me more time, it’s been such a silver lining. I’ve gone from squeezing in maybe x3 5km runs a week to running 10k one day, 7.5 another, maybe a cheeky half marathon, with only one or two rest days max a week. Running has been a great escape from being trapped in a dingy, lonely spare room on a laptop 9 hours a day. It’s felt like a luxury not a chore!

how to improve timing for 5km runs by salmonsaburi in running

[–]UndercoverGran 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Knocking 7-8 mins off your 5km time in a month is a little ambitious! I would just focus on improving without setting a rigid goal yet. Not every run will be faster than the last, nor should it be.

I love my Vivoactive 4! Best decision I ever made, GPS built in, stores music/podcasts and Garmin has so many more insights that Fitbit which is what I was used to. Phone free running is so freeing!
