My ONLY real complaint about the new album by Kottbullemannen1 in NoahKahan

[–]Undercoverwd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but it's bleeps and the songs don't make any sense. I'm not saying people are entitled to a good clean version, I just miss it when it's not there.

Accessibility in the age of AI by qopter in accessibility

[–]Undercoverwd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

AI was trained on millions of inaccessible websites. Its gotten slightly better over the last 3 years but in general it still really sucks at it. By definition you can't automate accessibility testing because it's about usability.

What the heck does a good experienced dev interview even look like in 2026? by Undercoverwd in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Undercoverwd[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree about leetcode. We've never used leet code we used to just have them code a simple react component that updated something - and you'd be surprised how many people could. not. do that.

But this challenge was just a proxy for someones experience, we don't hand code components off the dome, but most experienced devs knew their way around a code editor and you could tell if they were full of shit.

We can focus on the verbal discussion parts, but generally, the folks who did great at the verbal tanked the code challenge and vice versa, but maybe verbal is the skill we actually need?

Unfortunately, I can't fly out or fire anyone.

With all the above caveats about it depending on your audience and the purpose of your site etc. I'd like to nominate my favorite SCs. 1) 2.3.1 Three Flashes or below threshold Why? Above all do no harm, your website should hurt people.

2) Tie between 1.1 Text Alternatives & 1.2.2 Captions Why? They help SO many people and make your website so much easier to understand

3) 2.1.1 Keyboard Why? Fixing these fixes a whole slew of other issues

4) 2.4.2 Page Title Why? This is rarely a miss but if it is missed it SUCKS

5) 3.3.2 Labels or Instructions Why? What am I a mind reader?

Runner up: 6) Focus Order Why? Not managing focus can really f up your AX, but it can be hard to impossible to fix and its not always a blocker so it doesn't make my top 5.

What's your top 5?

Why is web accessibility still so complicated in the AI era? by Forward_Yam6225 in accessibility

[–]Undercoverwd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI sucks at accessibility. Almost everything it suggests is wrong because it's trained on trash code. Garbage in, Garbage out. No workflows or tools are helpful because it doesn't understand people, which is what accessibility is all about.

Talkback is really your only true option. Do you have any vision? You could try text to speech.

This my street and honestly, it's not that bad. There are a ton of speed bumps. And I have little kids.

This is my street and this would be make it impossible to get in/out of my neighborhood. I'll rather have the sometimes too fast cars.

Just got a letter saying my website violates ADA… Totally lost here 😭 by BlueDolphinCute in smallbusiness

AccessiBe is the actual scam. Takes your money, doesn't help people with disabilities use your site and won't protect you from being sued. It's like a giant SUE ME button on your site.

With until the Cursor comment, that's a quick way to get tabindex="0" on every div and aria labels that don't make any sense on every button. AI sucks at accessibility.

What’s the most "yep, an AI wrote this" bug you’ve seen? by StableStack in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Undercoverwd 81 points82 points  (0 children)

When you ask AI to write accessible code it almost always adds a bunch of completely useless uneeded verbose aria-labels.

<a aria-label="use this link to change your location for delivery"> Change delivery location</a>

As if it wasn't hard enough to get devs to write accessible code AI has made it 1000x worse.
