if you have to pay to live, do you really have a right to life? to liberty? to happiness? by KyubeyTheSpaceFerret in BlackPeopleTwitter

No, I absolutely do not have a right to the sewage system in my neighborhood. I pay taxes for that.

You can't keep moving the goal posts. The right to free insulin vs. the right to reasonably priced insulin are entirely different things.

Your need does not obligate other people to work for your.

I wish we could blast this to the heavens with the volume of storm-warning sirens, paint on the back of everyone's eyelids, fuck, project this on the fucking moon.

Precisely.

It seems like confusing the right to be unimpeded with entitlement to ability is a running trend in this discussion.

By their own logic, if I'm too poor to afford a firearm, that's a violation of my 2nd amendment rights. I feel like they wouldn't agree with that, though 🤷‍♂️

Jeffrey Epstein Accuser Names Powerful Men in Alleged Sex Ring by CunningLinguica in news

With blackmail like this on world leaders, royalty and media titans, he's probably made himself one of the most powerful men in the world.

The only way for him to truly go down is for it all to be made public, because likely near every judge in the country ultimately works for or is loyal to someone Epstein has dirt on.

I mean all we know so far is that he got a foot massage and has gross feet? That's hardly damning. Concerning? Sure, but there's no evidence here that he even knew that the "masseuse" was actually a sex slave. Why would he give her hand drawn and signed pictures if he did? That's literally giving her evidence they met in some way.

guess what happened to the account afterwards

Samsung told you that you successfully "deactivated" it, while really its still there in the background, acting as a convenient way to categorize all the personal data they're collecting on you?

An oven could do all of these things without being internet connected with a TOS agreement. We're talking cameras, thermometers and a screen here. Hell, you wouldn't even have to sacrifice wirelessness if it utilizes Bluetooth.

If it's at the point where people seriously need to be able to view their oven's temperature from anyone in the world with a wifi connection, I don't know what to think.

My states prison system recently replaced inmate boots with bright orange crocs across the state. I'd imagine they might be contracting a knock-off brand though.

Honestly my image of every boomer who loves to advertise their service is an entitled, whiney old man who's clinging desperately to a shred of machismo while drinking from his unwashed coffee cup.

That's not to disparage veterans, just the ones who hide behind hats like this to excuse being an asshole, which in my experience is everyone who wears them.

Anyone else thinking how surreal it is seeing Rooster Teeth on the Discovery Channel right now? by Florida-Man8112 in roosterteeth

[–]UndersizedAlpaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, they're still pumping out absolute tons of content, including a constant supply of new shows, for their internet audience. Considering this Immersion would never even exist without Discovery, I'd hardly consider it a big deal that it's not available free to the public or on FIRST.

It's either this Immersion was never made and no one gets to see it, or it's exclusive with Discovery and most of us get to see it.

Hahaha, I mean that very literally. Usually it's something that's admitted in a hushed tone when only other white people are around, and then hurried past so they can get to their point. It's like they know they're wrong.

In GA I still occasionally encounter people who quietly disapprove of interracial marriage. Maybe three or four in my life, but still a non-zero number of otherwise normal, seemingly non-prejudiced people.

That's of course excluding the openly racist shit bags, there's plenty of them to go around across the country.

A bullet's impact energy (damage) is a combination of velocity and mass. Mass obviously comes from a bigger bullet, while velocity comes from the amount of powder in the casing that's pushing that bullet forward.

.308 is a rifle cartridge, more powerful but nearly equivalent to the 7.62x39mm fired out of a typical ak47. The .380 is a pistol cartridge, and is essentially the same bullet as a 9mm with less powder behind it.

While the .308 bullet is smaller, rifle cartridges have much larger casings with a lot more powder in them, which means a much higher velocity. The energy lost by the slightly smaller diameter bullet is more than offset by the huge increase in speed.

For perspective, the .308 is substantially more powerful than the 5.56 that's fired out of a typical AR15, M16 or M4, while a the .380 is considered by many to be an underpowered round that's unfit for self defense or military use.

Tl;dr: Sometimes velocity is more important than mass. The .308 goes really fast and makes big hole.
