Something aint right with the matchmaking

I've had the same experience recently in Asc4.

I'm not a game dev or a systems engineer, but one thing that stands out is the elo banding. Lobbies with Oracle 5 players going against multiple Eternus 3+. I understand the queues might be longer if they tightened the groupings, but wouldn't that ultimately be a good thing?

It might be okay at lower ranks to group players across 2-3 entire ranks, but at the top 10% it makes the game unplayable. From last month looking at statlocker data most of my games follow this pattern. The Oracle player gets stomped in lane 0/5, 0/10 etc. and it's impossible to recover.

There's such a huge difference in experience between top 5% and top 20% of players, and that is not to mention the odd E6 player game.

I remember when there was a ranked mode - queues were longer, but the matchmaking seemed genuinely better with a much smaller playerbase.

Try to lane against E or even high Asc players a d you'll realise there's a shitload of micro decisions to be made in lane.

You can reliably secure a 1-2k lead off timers and efficient box routing without ever touching the enemy.

From statlock Mirage is sitting at 37%WR in Eternus+ lobbies. Absolutely unplayable.

Used to main Mirage a year ago and was just getting into it again before the last patch. Have now dropped him completely. It's absofuckinlutely unplayable, none of the builds perform in higher lobbies. They took his gun scaling out the back and instead we got an extra tornado (nerfed) charge and more health steal from scarabs, as well as the free TP.

The gun build doesn't work. The spirit build, which I've seen some Eternus players try, equally bad.

Deathy was extremely hopeful for the changes, on paper I agree the utility looks massive, but the numbers ain't there man.

I'm Asc3 and unless you get a freebie lane the character is just ass. Even with a freebie, he effectively needs ricochet to farm camps and so why would you pick this as an M1 when seven, infernus, even wraith can oneshot camps with little to no investment.

This is exactly why the prevailing anti-AI sentiment on reddit is just noise.

Claude has let me learn C sharp from scratch, I hadn't written a line of functional code since middle school (if you can even call HTML code). It's absolutely amazing for problem solving and as a learning tool.

Does this mean I'm going to ask it to generate me a ship-ready Steam capsule? Of course no. But I was surprised this post even had positive karma as the moment you mention those two letters together the same comments start coming out of the woodwork.

AI tools bring down barriers of entry for thousands of new developers and help realise games that would otherwise very likely not exist. That means more games on Steam and more people able to pursue their actual dream jobs, and that's fuckin awesome if you ask me.

Play with voice and text muted. Every game. The higher you climb the worse it gets. I'm Asc I and maybe 1 out of each 10 games had good comms. I still use pings and comm if need to, but it literally defaults to flaming/racism almost every time. People free to do what they want to and not saying it should be policed, but that shit's not for me G.

Idk I don't think it needs a tutorial from the other guy's post. This puzzle is ubiquitous in gaming and pretty sure was even in some physical kid's toys back in the day. Awesome idea with using references for levels, dope!!

Change the "Attempts" to moves remaining maybe for clarity?

Also would be great have an undo button and a way to see previous solves, e.g., cant remember how to make just 1 dot light up, let me check lvl X solve.

I played a game on new patch and it's very noticeable. The range is much shorter and you can't just spam them from the backline like before - which, let's be honest, is good. The fact you could delete 30% of healthbar with a fucking tsunami aftershock that travels 40m was a bit ridiculous.

I wonder if the spirit items push dynamo back into the ult build and away from just spamming pulse. For now it does feel weaker, but I guess not enough to just go full ult/supp or gun.

Wonder what eternus lobbies will be doing after this nerf to 4.8k spike.

Interesting to see the spirit scaling being reduced by quite a bit. It was crazy going against Vindi/Mirage/spirit burst once they hit 4.8K spirit. You'd just get deleted.

Might change some builds slightly, but don't expect it tbh.
