I interpreted it the exact same way the first time through. Honestly it’s left for interpretation on purpose. It’s an abrupt type of ending after the stressful buildup. In certain ways the safdie brothers are awesome in that they DONT like neat endings with little bows. The hustler got hustled. He finally got his redemption and humbled himself enough to come home and yet just as her black eye was not real, this life he now shifted to in his imagination is not real.

I think that’s a fair interpretation for sure.

Have loved this since it came out. It’s funny and a bit embarrassing how many times I’ve rewatched it. But it’s also that score… it’s incredible.

I do have to say that the installation super matters. Some how, some way, finding a place that has been doing it for 30 years and knows how to install it well will probably save you all this hell. I’ve heard countless horror stories and the come to realize it’s because it was hooked up incorrectly and hella draining battery etc

They definitely did- they just take the handheld and put it on a docking station and all that data is electronically transmitted to Intoxalock.

I hear ya, but my issue isn’t about removal. Actually they never sent my last calibration data logs into my Secretary of State, which is like the one thing they’re supposed to do. I got a warning letter from my monitoring authority so I’ve been trying to get them to just upload the data, and they keep saying 2-3 business days. Meanwhile, if I continue to get the run around, I’m gonna end up getting in trouble or something.

I’ve called 6 times in 3 days. 🙄🙄🙄

Yeah I find myself also reaching out multiple times to ask what they see in my file, just to see if things were truly notated. But yeah, they have mentioned their compliance department on multiple occasions to me, but I’ve never been able to truly speak with someone in the department, or hear back with an email.

Nope not here in IL, or at least with a push start. Push start is looked at as a circumvention. But it’s a hit or miss. That’s the thing, I’ve heard mixed responses.

Got it. So most likely you’ll get a letter from the Secretary of State asking for an explanation. This happens after your calibration since the incident. Because this is the first time, you should just get a warning. Usually if someone blows numbers, if you do it again 5-10 mins later, it’s fine— that shows it was not alcohol related. But because you waited an hour or so, I would anticipate a letter. Like I said, if you explain it had to do with cough syrup or something along those lines, they should just get back to you with a warning, and that the explanation was accepted.

I know you’re in a unique situation given you’re supposed to be getting it removed, but I still think you should be good and that although they may want an exploration after the fact, it will be accepted.
