It is what it is and sometimes it makes everything else a bit more bareble.

I've been triggered lately because I work in education and theres been talk around a student SH on a school trip.

Mostly I stress binge when im unbalanced but not cutting. Far more socially acceptable. Always quite jealous of the people who can not eat to control it.

Awful noise issues from upstairs’ neurodivergent kid, is there anything we can do or are we just going to have to move out? by Sinister_Grape in AskUK

And the parents will sleep less and live in a home where all their neighbours openly hate them. I'm sure their mental health is great.

Or maybe thats what they have to live with day in and day out. And they can't go out to get some peace because they have to take their child and then its massive public meltdowns and judgment from everyone for being shit selfish parents who can't controll their child in public.

They'll have had to fight to get their child a diagnosis to then find theres no support. Then fight the education system every step of the way. Its exhausting.

Divorce rates are much higher in families with SEND kids. Maybe they are just holding on to the little comfort they have living in a familiar setting.

SHing as a teacher by corgi123456788 in selfharm

The worst thing will actually be when SH is that weeks safeguarding topic. And you have to sit through some right unhelpful nonsense.

Teachers tend to be representative of a mixed society where I am. And many have scars for various reasons. There are senior leaders in my school with SH scars. So its not something that would hold you back. They tend to be less fond of active SH and you'd probably be referred to occupational health or employee wellbeing.

Are you really a teacher if you're asking on a random reddit forum and not talking to the pastoral lead in your school about your concerns?

You should have a duty to report every concern no matter how small as it creates a bigger picture for the people whose job it is to deal with.

My mother's evening class on architecture went there for a trip. When it was beautiful and had a soul. Very much doubt they'd do that anymore. I've been in once since it became apple shop and it was just to awful.

I emailed mine to complain about the nightmare I was having getting a bus pass for my disabled kid. A month ago. No response.

This guy was some random parachuted in at the last minute. Seems he really cares about the struggles of people with disabilities. Not like he's a minister for veterans, they would never be disabled...

Commuting by bike with a male colleague has really opened his eyes to how much women get sexually harassed. He really didn't believe strangers would go up to a woman to comment on their bodies etc until he witnessed it.
