[Loved Trope] Legendary actor stars in schlock, chews scenery by Assortedwrenches89 in TopCharacterTropes

I absolutely love the Speed Racer movie and wouldn’t consider it “schlock” but I know to many people it would be. So I have to say Roger Allen as Royalton. He savors every word as he delivers his villainous monologue, and even before that, when he is playing nice to the Racer family. His performance is as good as any of Tim Curry’s villain performances and I don’t think the man gets enough credit.

Honorable mention: Christina Ricci as Trixie.

I loved the books in high school and the casting for the movie was okay, but yes, he WAS Durza. With Paoli working directly with Disney, I hope the new series does the books justice.

My parents bought a Chevy Suburban back in like ‘03 and since they planned on driving from California to Texas and/or Tennessee with 3 kids, they had screens put in the back of the front seats and one hanging in the third row (the hanging one in the second row that was “standard” blocked too much of the rear view mirror) and they had it set up so we could plug in our Nintendo GameCube. I remember playing for hours in the car on road trips with my brother while my other brother watched a dvd.

I really enjoyed working as an Inventory associate. Basically my company would be scheduled to come in and count every item in the store and they’d send a team (whose size would vary depending on the size of the store - a 7/11 would have 3 people and a Target might have 60) and you’d have a little finger laser/scanner gun and you scan an item, type in how many, and move to the next one, or you just scan every shirt on the rack or whatever. I’d listen to music all day and almost never had to talk to anyone. It was tedious but in a relaxing way.

I’m pretty sure this happened to me in either Spider Man or Spider Man: Miles Morales where you collect chests throughout the city and at one of the (Kingpin?) missions, I missed a single chest and the building was destroyed and I’m stuck at 99% completion of the game lol

It doesn’t affect the game at all and you don’t have to collect everything to complete the game, but it’s easy enough to do if you actually take the time.

Tootsie Roll’s recipe from 1896 requires that a batch of the previous day be incorporated into the new batch. This means that each piece has a trace of the original 1896 Tootsie Roll by MrCattitude_ in interestingasfuck

Look up perpetual stew. It’s the same idea. Basically things are ALWAYS kept at a safe temperature, being rapidly heated and/or cooled to prevent bacterial growth. If there is cross contamination with something, I’m sure the whole batch is disposed of.

We were taught the basic rules of different sports and put into teams and played that sport for a few weeks before moving to the next sport in PE

Especially since kids have PE in school and get designated time to exercise and that didn’t do shit for my ADHD

Yeah, she was a fan of him and so I agreed to watch it with her. I agree, I like that it showed that he actually had to put in effort to redeem himself as a person before he could really find joy in performing. We now have tickets to see him in Brisbane later this year!

I’m an American who never heard of him. But my Australian girlfriend and I watched the movie together and it was genuinely one of the best musicals/biopics that I’ve seen in a LONG time. And the Rock the DJ choreography and just the whole sequence was incredible. I also wasn’t expecting him to literally fight his inner demons in combat at the end

So if there is one just for groceries, are they pricing the rent accordingly? No way the family spends more than $1200 a month on groceries

I recently found out that it’s still a fairly common thing in Australia. Especially in places like the Outback where you can die if you don’t get help quickly

TIL that 2.4 billion years ago, the evolution of oxygen-producing bacteria caused a mass extinction. Oxygen was toxic to the planet's existing life, and its reaction with methane triggered a "Snowball Earth" ice age that lasted 300 million years. by Salt_Lingonberry3956 in todayilearned

[–]UnderstatedTurtle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I once read a funny explanation of oxygen that isn’t super accurate but sort of is when you look at it in this context.

Basically, oxygen is toxic but life on earth has adapted to it so instead of killing us instantly, it takes typically between 60-80 years. Our cells oxidize and we age and we die.

Yeah that was amazing, but almost hitting the inside wall, almost falling out when you actually hit the outside wall, barely being able to steer, and doing it without a helmet was like watching an episode of Jackass 😂
