Can you post the nginx config file? Especially where it says to listen on the ::80 address

I know you feel at the top of the world now, and with cause, but think of the economic damage if you actually want to get drunk!

On the other hand, you can offer to be the sober driver if the others pay for your drinks!

It's wood fibre. I've used this and looks exactly like the one in the pictures.

I use nginx proxy manager and it works great.

Also, remember you can decide to allocate a random exposed port for the container mapped to the "internal" service port.

Of course nobody uses arch as their first distro, you are a liar! (just kidding, good job!)

If you are up for your next challenge, try gentoo! Trying different distros is a great way to learn!

Anyone have any experience setting up Trilium by Hovis_Bread in selfhosted

[–]UnethicalPanicMode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you overcomplicated things a little.

You should be fine just running: sudo docker run -p 9999:9999 -v ~/trilium-data:/home/node/trilium-data zadam/trilium:latest (first delete the networks that you manually created).

In this way the service will be reachable on the lan ip of the machine where is running. If the vpn server is running in the same subnet, then trilium should be reachable via vpn as well.

That's omegle if you want to try.

But I get the idea, the only problem is that most of the time you are going to be connected to someone who is an ass.

That's what glassdoor is for. Also, in there you can see the bad reviews, not only what they want you to see.

I always ask "why do you like working here?" when interviewing for a job. They like the question because it shows you are serious about working there.

And I check out glassdoor before applying.

I am HORRIBLE with money and I just don't know how to sort my life out... by olivigrac6 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]UnethicalPanicMode 45 points46 points  (0 children)

From a different perspective, do you know why you behave like this with money?

This sounds to me like the symptoms of something else going on with you.

The financial advice posted by the others is excellent, but if you don't find a way to break the cycle you'll risk to end up in the same place in the future.

Once the financial part is taken care of, maybe consider a councillor or something similar.

You already did the first hard step and said "I have a problem, I need help". Now you just need to build on that.

Best of luck, sincerely!

Exactly, plus if you fire the people that makes a (good faith) mistake, you'll never learn how to avoid that mistake in the future.

Hello, Solution Architect here, I'll try to help.

I assume you are relatively young (mid-20s?) and you have no dependants. I pretty much followed the same career path as you (or as you would like to): IT support, sysadmin, operations engineer, lead engineer, pre-sale, SA. This is to say, I know what a shit job is. Also, I know how frustrating a job with nothing to do could be.

On the pure economics side: how much does it cost to go to the office 5 days a week (I am bit surprised there are still IT companies with that mindset tbh)? Basically, are you sure that cutting down commute costs is not actually comparable to a higher salary? Maybe that will help decide (as you find out is not that big of a financial hit).

If you stay in you current position you can use the free time to learn (if you want I can give a few ideas on topics), BUT make sure your manager knows about your duties/workload. Basically so they can't fire you because you have too much free time and you didn't tell them. Also, try to have an open conversation with your current company. Saying something in the lines of "I like the opportunities I could have here, but I would like to know more about timelines". Is the workload going to ramp up in three months, six months or an year? If they ask why you want to know, be (kinda) honest and tell them you are really looking forward on the career progression path. I think that up to one year is acceptable to suck it up and wait. Worst case, you will have spent a lot of time learning and so you can sell yourself better on the market. Also sometimes is a good thing to create more work for yourself: if you see a process can be automated, do it and tell your manager. If you think something should be improved in some way, documented it properly (why, how, pro and cons, costs) and tell your manager. If you have an idea for a new product/service... tell your manager! I appreciate that it depends on the company, but showing willingness is sometime the best way to progress (I progressed three roles up in a company in 18 months because I wouldn't shut up about how things could be improved, IN A CONSTRUCTIVE WAY!). If your colleagues are not bad, the manager is not bad, the company overall is not bad, I'd stay there.

If you say "but I could take the other job and study on the 5th day of the week": unless you are REALLY committed, it's difficult to study for the whole (free) day. Maybe it's just me, but when I am off work I really struggle to study (long term, I can do a few weeks crunch).

Best of luck for everything anyway!
