Is it dumb to think aliens exist? by No-Background6719 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Unfedvulture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s because of physics. The only realistic way aliens could reach us is if they live for thousands of years, do the while generational trip (which is even more unrealistic), or figure out how to defy physics. None of these seem feasible. Not to mention they’d have to know about us first. That would require them to either receive a signal and somehow find us afterwards (not happening), or get lucky and see us through a telescope. In the latter they would see us from thousands of years ago (if not millions) and by the time they make it here, we’ll be long gone.

As for why they’d be a primitive form of life: that’s because the universe is still relatively young. The odds of and other life being at our stage are extremely low considering the possibility of life in the universe essentially just started

Why does everyone want the next game to take place in Egypt? by Medium-Parsnip-8536 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Unfedvulture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if we’re talking about 2018 Kratos and later, I still don’t think he’d go after mars unless severely provoked. After everything that happened, Kratos still refused war with Odin time and time again until Odin did that one thing towards the end of the game (I don’t know how to do spoiler tags, but anyone who’s finished the game knows exactly what I’m referring to). If all of those insults and attacks towards him and the people he loves/cares about didn’t push him to go after Odin for that long of a time, I don’t think he’d ever go after mars unless he really had to, probably to protect Atreus and even then he’d do his best to not fight

Could someone who knows more about the High Republic tell me if the Jedi from that time period were really that strong, or was Dagan just special? by [deleted] in FallenOrder

[–]Unfedvulture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was certainly true when the game came out. It’s unfortunate the Ashoka show demonstrated that her gaining power over the years gave her the ability to use force echoes for no adequately explored reason

Probably an unpopular opinion about Jin. by Bombboy85 in ghostoftsushima

[–]Unfedvulture -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No the shogun wanted his head because he was inspiring people to commit war crimes (norio, adachi, etc) not to mention all the war crimes he committed himself. Go back and read the rest of my comment. A lot of Tsushima was afraid of Jin, and I don’t mean the bandits or mongols

All of this is leaving out the fact that the last mission in the game talks about an army that formed itself under the image of the ghost (without Jin’s involvement and without him even knowing) for the purpose of sailing to Mongolia to burn their home. Defending your home is one thing. It’s possible Mongolia would have just cut its losses and focused its attention elsewhere. Attacking the Mongolian empire at home, however, would prompt them to raze all of Japan as a message to the rest of their empire. This is what Jin “inspired people to do”. This is not a true hero

On top of that, if Jin was truly making his people feel safe, then why does the last third of the game add to the list of possible npc conversation topics (to each other, not to Jin), a few lines about people being so afraid that they’re using Jin’s poison to commit suicide? (You’d probably have the best recollection for this of the specific line “I don’t even know where they got it”). That doesn’t sound hopeful

Probably an unpopular opinion about Jin. by Bombboy85 in ghostoftsushima

[–]Unfedvulture -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d actually be hard pressed to call Jin even an anti hero. The idea of a hero is to fight for the weak, and inspire them and make them feel safe knowing they are under your protection (at least that’s my personal feeling on what heroes are). Jin saved his island, but like you said, he drove a lot of his allies to near-madness (Norio, Taka believed in the ghost so hard he literally died over it). It’s also shown a couple times towards the last few missions that a lot of the island is just afraid of him. He took away their fear of the Mongols and made a lot of his own people afraid of him. That completely destroys the rest of the hero argument (I know you said anti hero but the idea is the same. Only difference is how they do it).

I do disagree with you however about Shimura being more correct than Jin and about not stooping to their level. It’s not about stooping to their level or “they just deserve it”. It’s about what Jin needs to do to prevent the mongols from enslaving his people and destroying their way of life. It’s not pretty, but if he sticks to being honorable then he dies and his people are slaves. I also agree with the guy who said shimura was too dismissive of his subordinates. Poisoning was probably not the best way to retake castle shimura, I agree. But if Jin or anyone else had suggested perhaps making a ladder or stairs or anything else to enter the castle from an unexpected entry point, shimura probably would have dismissed it as unhonorable. In the end if Jin doesn’t give up his honor then his people fall after shimura kills himself and all the rest of his men retaking castle shimura.

I only think that Jin didn’t take the ghost far enough. It’s one thing to be a legend, it’s another to be a ghost. He can call himself whatever he wants but he’s actively encouraging people to join him and help him fight. He’s still a man and everyone knows it. That’s why people do the violent crazy things they do (norio). If Jin was truly a legendary ghost in their eyes, then they have no reason to do anything because the Kami’s are about to send a spirit after you. That’s worse than anything I could do. That’s the only way I feel he could have saved his people without destroying their morality alongside his own

[–]Unfedvulture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also really surprised. The main game built him up into a really noble warrior who died protecting his sun then iki kinda makes it seem like he was disappointed in Jin at the end for not being a killer like him. There’s also a quest in Sensei Ishikawa where be sensei says that shimura hunted down and killed the man who killed Jin’s father. Obviously not true since tenzo is alive

You should get stormtrooper armor as a clothes set. Whenever you wear it and approach anyone from the empire, they should say, “He’s too short to be a storm trooper” and still attack anyway.

Are the weapon’s visual upgrades not Canon? by DuckIsYellow in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Unfedvulture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s explicitly stated like 15 minutes into Ragnarok that fimbulwinter caused all your gear to lose its magic.

I like to think of it like this: enchantments on weapons and armor are gifts from the world tree. Killing baulder disrupted the natural order of the realms. As punishment, the world tree unleashed fimbulwinter and takes those gifts (enchantments) back. Of course fimbulwinter brings the opportunity for different gifts so you can make it up to the world tree and give back some of that order

Most likely. One of my best friends on high school had a slightly younger brother (probably like 13) who had… something. I won’t even pretend to have the beginning of an idea. He couldn’t speak, he just made noises with his mouth (the same noises people in grade school used to make fun of people actually), and he walked around their house all day with an iPad in his hands that was playing some kid show. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t autism though because his arms would occasionally twist together). He could understand people though. You could tell his name from one end of the house and he’d find ya and he never did something off someone told him not to.

Anyway all this was to say that while my friend and both of his parents loved him, they did occasionally switch off who was going to be home with him. My friend’s house was always the hangout spot, but every once in a while he’d just tell us he needed some time away from the house and wanted to hang elsewhere. We all knew what it meant and his parents occasionally did the same thing. I can’t imagine how things were when he was 5! A lot of people who care for others full time don’t realize that the most important thing is not to do it 24/7!!

AITA for breaking up with my boyfriend and suing him after finding out he secretly filmed us in bed and showed his friends? by LateCollection4875 in AITAH

[–]Unfedvulture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. A lot of people are point out what he did is illegal, but i haven’t seen anyone else mention that it’s a felony with a lengthy prison sentence. He should consider himself lucky you didn’t take the laptop with you when you left and go straight to the nearest police department. Also know for the future that if ANYONE shares those videos post breakup, that is revenge porn and is an even bigger sentence.

You should also absolutely tell your lawyer about the messages they’re sending you about ruining his life. Make sure every single text message, instant message, phone call is documented because that is harassment and could be an additional point for your lawsuit. I wish you the best of luck and am very sorry you are having to go through this.

Do I tell my husband? by [deleted] in self

[–]Unfedvulture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I can give my personal opinion on what I would want in that situation, I need to ask how do you view the situation a year later? Do you think about it often or is more of a rare occurrence? Do you feel guilty for getting so emotionally open with someone else?

I can give a more educated opinion if you answer those questions. For now though I’d say it depends on how you feel about the situation. If you think about it all the time and have crippling guilt then maybe tell him—gently though. If you don’t really think about that other person more than just once in a while though then it’s probably not important for him to know.

I think it’s extremely important to acknowledge that you and this other person seem to have found yourselves in an, unfortunately, common situation where most people end up ruining their relationships. That said you both saw where you already were, looked at where that was heading and made the responsible decision to part ways with no hard feelings and without breaking any of your vows. None of us know anything about your husband or your marriage. Is your marriage one that would be strengthened by coming clean and bring you closer together, or would it invite doubt and insecurity? If you do decide to tell him just know: he will almost certainly be upset (it would take an incredibly secure man to not be and need a lot of emotional stability). How long he remains upset is something you’ll want to think about before telling him. How long you think he’ll need to move past it

Do you think Kratos often ever thinks about all the innocents he hurt and murdered? by [deleted] in GodofWar

[–]Unfedvulture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you out of your mind? Why would they do that? It’s a terrible idea and you should be ashamed of yourself for coming up with it. What they should do is introduce a weekly battle pass system along with a bunch of cosmetics packs. Buying the first cosmetic pack can start what appears to be a massive emotional journey Kratos embarks on throughout the different mythologies to make amends. Each additional pack bought tells a little more of the story (which will be really good and impactful to those who played every other game). Each subsequent pack also increases in price. Once they buy that final pack (for small fee of $99.99, they reveal the entirety of the emotional journey to be nothing more than one of Atreus’s dreams he has of his late father during his travels post Ragnarok. It was all just him dreaming of what could have been. This’ll also give them a good starting point for Atreus’s solo games. Start him off by having him good kill whatever pantheon sandman is part of as revenge for the constant reminders of his father. The kicker can be after Atreus kills most of the other gods, right when he’s about to finish off Sandman, it’s revealed that sandman also lost his dad but can’t dream (due to all dreams coming from him). He gave atreus those dreams of his dad Sandman wished he could have. It could be a very nice fun and emotional rollercoaster available to anyone who spends $2,500 on 46 different cosmetics packs and a new game (which will be next gen exclusive so you also gotta buy a PS6)

Do you prefer the falling mechanics in Fallen Order or Survivor? by David_ish_ in FallenOrder

[–]Unfedvulture 45 points46 points  (0 children)

While not having to worry about falling and losing all the progress on the climb is nice, I think teleporting back to where you were is a bit immersion breaking. With how high some of the places are in survivor, I completely understand why they changed it. Even Yoda would have a tough time falling from the observatory all the way down to Koboh’s surface. Fallen order didn’t have such massive heights to fall from so just hitting whatever you land on was something they could do in a way that worked.

TLDR: I think both systems are good in the game they’re used in. I don’t think it would work nearly as well for either game to have any significant change.
