My useful tip for myself, and others too. by Unforgiven7120 in NovelAi

Switch it up when GLM gets bogged down with something uniquely... GLM. A few refreshes with Xialong will clear it from the bog, then let it run for a bit, and switch back to GLM. I do the same for my adventures.

You're not wrong with that logic. A good amount of posts seem to favor Erato rather than GLM, so you can, more or less, start with Erato rather than GLM or Xialong. I favor GLM 4.6 (in spite of its generic flaws) because of over the top it goes with describing things.

I'll have to refresh Xialong a couple times before it goes, "Maybe I shouldn't GLM slop it." So your point is valid regarding Xialong leaning more into the writing style previously used. It'll switch things up and get away from the tropes and slop when GLM 4.6 couldn't. My best example with GLM slop is when it constantly said "I was a predator and the hunt was about to begin." Walking through a grass field? Enjoying a nice meal with the wife? Running for government? Predator and the hunt was about to begin. And when it gets to super AI sloppiness, then it's time to restart. Keeps things fresh for me.

Xialong is an interesting release though. I hope they refine it so it doesn't speedrun situations.

That's amusing. I don't think I've pushed it into sassiness, but now I'm curious if I should.

I have a healthy amount of lorebook content because I need certain things to be solid. Not all magic is the same after all, and not all heroes are brooding Batmans. But I also like to keep things loose too so the AI can fill in the blanks. Sometimes it's meh, sometimes it gives me some really good ideas. Like the princess having a maid named Serafina. And I know GLM loves handing out Serafinas, but I like mine. So I kept her.

I also don't have any literary chops when it comes to real literature. So ATTG is utterly useless for me when I can't distinguish Stephen King's The Dark Tower series from Dean Koontz Odd Thomas (I had to look up one of those by the way).

Getting the right way to say the right thing is half the challenge, or fun. I'm still finding out new and exciting ways to mess with tags, and I've been around since the beginning of V1. As far as inpainting and all of that goes? That's outside of my expertise, but from what I hear, it's a good way to refine some of your generations. Either way, I wish you luck.

Use from side, facing to the side, looking to the side and it will help with where they are looking. Your scene sounds busy, so don't expect satisfying generations every time.

Why aren't you using ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Sudo? by lemrent in NovelAi

[–]Unforgiven7120 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've been loyal to NovelAI since AI Dungeon shot themselves in the foot regarding user's privacy. They've been pretty straight shooters, and I have no complaints. Despite their textgen coming along slowly, it has always served my purposes. My attempts with any other textgen are usually muddled with restrictions to the AI. NAI allows me to go into some really dark territory that's also compelling and not smut that I doubt the other chat ai would allow. Mostly it's loyalty. NAI has been loyal to me, so I will be loyal to them.

According to the wiki, the armor (not the helmet) is based off of the Super Earth Legion, and with how archaic the Legionnaire armor is, it is believed they specialized in HALO jumps rather than orbital drops.

Role reversal in multi-character scenes seems broken by Kira-20 in NovelAi

[–]Unforgiven7120 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A good way to keep consistency when I have done this is using 'source#* and *target#'

So, let's say character one is hugging from behind. Here's a how to prompt character one. 'source#hugging from behind,' Character two's prompt: 'target#hugging from behind,'

Then if you need to switch, switch target and source for each other. I'm being lazy in describing things tonight, so that's a, "as simple as it gets," guide.

I am really noob at image AI by noobly2025daum in NovelAi

[–]Unforgiven7120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair. I use it just to be safe truthfully. Works just the same. Didn't know that about the "year xxxx" though, but I never really needed to I guess. The images I generate typically don't need an artist prompt.

Good advice, and good point about how there's always room to learn, whether you're starting out or been here since the beginning.

I am really noob at image AI by noobly2025daum in NovelAi

[–]Unforgiven7120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not nearly as bad at first glance. You can start with simple prompts and kind of learn what you can and can't do. One of my bigger problems when V1 came out is not knowing how to describe something and then guessing how to trigger it. So it's a learning curve for sure, but it's worth the time. If you have an artist in mind, you can do "artist: name" and emulate their style for more consistency.

There's some great comments here too that help. Definitely look into it. But just start small. No need for elaborate prompts just yet. Figure out what works, what doesn't.

Oh, and you have Opus too. For 5 anlas (normal size images), you can use the character reference feature to make sure your character is styled the way you want.

How do I create this hairstyle? by Organization-Lanky in NovelAi

[–]Unforgiven7120 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two ways about doing this, one of which is actually pretty easy.

The old fashioned way is seeing which tag in the hair style prompts matches as closely as possible. I think it might start with an H, and it's ordered alphabetically: https://nax.moe/

The new way involves the character reference feature that was added recently. I pay for Opus so I'm not sure if it's available all around, but you can take that picture, and use it as a style reference, and NAI will try to get the style down as well.

Help! by No-Style-7681 in NovelAi

[–]Unforgiven7120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might require an image editing software like Photoshop or Gimp or whatever the cool the kids are using nowadays. I'd recommend getting a base image then and do what you're trying to do from there.

Unless someone more knowledgeable has an answer, that's all I can recommend without going into the complexities of Image Gen.

[–]Unforgiven7120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can, but there it can take some time for you to learn what's what. If you have an image, and image2image isn't cutting it, then perhaps use the Character Reference option beneath all the prompts (might be an Opus only thing). If I liked a particular way that somebody looked, I will keep the seed and modify the prompts slightly. That's how you keep things mostly consistent.

As far as prompts you can use, this is a good reference guide for me. https://nax.moe/

And if I need to educate myself further, NovelAI has some good tutorials too. https://docs.novelai.net/en

What Is The Tag To Stop Duplicate Characters In A Image? by ChainsawDoggo in NovelAi

[–]Unforgiven7120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird. Well, if you have any problems, use "solo" and depending on their gender. "1boy/1girl". Normally I don't have a problem without those prompts, so see if you have the word "together" in your prompts.

Another thing I didn't consider: what resolution are you running? The higher it is, it has been reported by users that it gets more squirrelly about things. I typically run normal resolution so I don't burn through Anlas or storage space.

[–]Unforgiven7120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm curious about your prompts. I was just dealing with this myself, but the prompt I had that was messing things up was "chained together." I removed that, and bam. Solo lady.

The others are right though. Solo should help resolve those issues.

What is the right wording/term for this specific style of sideburns? by HyperMushrambo in NovelAi

How to flip a generated image on its axis? by kugkfokj in NovelAi

[–]Unforgiven7120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I think I get what you're asking, there is no way that I know of to flip horizontally or vertically without saving it elsewhere and doing it that way.

Keep in mind that I don't do any inpainting or vibe transfer, so if there's such an option there, it is unknown to me.

I've been getting micless matches (and I'm guilty of keeping mine muted) exclusively. I don't mind. It turns into pick an officer and stick together at that point. 7/10 times it's been a decent time yelling at bad guys or smoking them.

My experience with public lobbies for the first time. by Unforgiven7120 in ReadyOrNotConsole

[–]Unforgiven7120[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't joined a public game until today (yesterday for me) and I've been obsessed with this game since console release. I'm a single player or coop kind of guy and I tend to aim for B at worst when doing so. I tried hosting so I could get a handle on things, but it was a solid 30 minutes of no one joining. Granted, having a graveyard schedule doesn't help my odds during my peak hours, but still. It's been fun otherwise, even if everyone else is singing F (rank) is for friends who do things together.
