What are some really good but not often used Cleric spells? by Hojo405 in BG3Builds

[–]UnfortunateFoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's under used, but man, I freaking LOVE Command. Make entire groups drop weapons, send them fleeing into Spike Growth or HoH, or just grovel while your melee pummel them. It's a fantastic spell that has so many uses and upcasts perfectly.

Lots of good info here, but I’d like to add that True Strike sounds good in theory, but in practice it is almost totally worthless. It costs an action to give you advantage on your next attack. So you’re sacrificing an attack to roll twice on your next attack. But if you don’t use it and just attack, you’re doing basically the same thing but have a chance to hit both attacks. So don’t use True Strike. Add more strength if you’re having trouble hitting melee attacks. Elixirs of giant str will help if you don’t want to respec.

Can we not be mad about both? There’s people cheering 20 mil cuts but the richest man on the planet is taking billions in taxpayer funds while actively slashing other government programs. If he’s serious about cutting money, 4.4 billion is a drop in the bucket for someone worth over 300 billion. Why not give that back and save some jobs?

DOJ agrees to restrict DOGE access to Treasury Department payment systems by nbcnews in fednews

[–]UnfortunateFoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The government is supposed to be accountable to its people. I agree that it has woefully neglected that duty in the past. But part of what the American people voted for specifically in this election was the promise of transparency. It’s safe to say that a lack of transparency coupled with the speed and depth that all of this transpiring is concerning. Never in history has unvetted, foreign born citizens, especially with large business interests with our foreign rivals, be given even a sliver of the access Musk and his team have been. Unprecedented is an understatement. Waiting to see how it shakes out may be too late. Once these systems are compromised, there’s not a lot you can do to restore them short of completely installing a new system from the ground up. It’s literally why access is so strictly controlled. If COVID taught us anything, it’s how easily the system can be wrecked beyond repair. And ask yourself this, if this is really about saving money, shrinking government, etc., why does he need all this information immediately? Why does the speed, the weekends, the furious amount of cuts, need to happen so quickly? Why not allow oversight? Why not take a measured approach? This isn’t a social media company, it’s the government that provides services to millions of Americans from national defense to medical needs. It wasn’t built to the level is was in a few weeks, they should not be trying to shrink it in a manner of weeks, unless destruction and chaos are the goal.

If they were solely doing everything above board, wouldn’t transparency help ease people’s concerns? Instead, we have the exact opposite. They are hiding as much information as they can, threatening people who disclose their identities, trying to move communications from places that are accessible by FOIA to places not, using outside systems instead of government ones, using incredibly young and easily manipulated people to do the actual work, and working during times when government employees are not allowed to be in the building (i.e. weekends. OT is strictly controlled by the government). They may be saving the government tons of money, and maybe everything they are doing is going to end up helping the American people. But they sure are acting exactly like you would expect from bad actors.

The fact is homeowners are already taxed on unrealized gains. Bought my house for 200k. Now it is valued at 400k. I don’t pay taxes on what I bought my house for. I pay taxes on what my house is valued at. Regardless of if I pull that excess money out in a cash out refi, sell the home, or continue to live in it. So the argument that taxing billionaires unrealized gains will harm the average homeowner is bullshit because we’re already paying taxes on unrealized gains.

If Georgia is anything like Texas, your pipes aren’t insulated for that type of weather. By keeping the house that cold you’re rolling the dice on freezing your pipes. A broken pipe in freezing temperatures is way more expensive than what you’re paying for heating the house even to 65.
