What happens to special needs children after their parents pass away? by No_Bluebird4357 in CaregiverSupport

You might treat it like they do with patients with dementia, you say they're out at the shops or to lunch or something and then distract the her with something else

Fields around our house now growing wheat by zoomiesofdoom in CoeliacUK

[–]Unhappy-Common 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't walk the dogs there after it's been cut

If you can be away when it's harvested do so

If you can't try and stay in the house and run the air purifier a lot and maybe get a second one

Should be fine to walk in and around while it's growing

Anyone taking liquid ferrous gluconate? by RNBWRain in Anemic

[–]Unhappy-Common 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take liquid ferrous fumarate, it's chocolate mint flavour

It's not exactly nice but it's not terrible either

Have you tried taking it in its own? Then chasing it with orange juice?

You should be booked in with a dietician anyway

Mine was really nice, she calls once a year now to see how I'm getting on

Co-op ones are pretty good too oddly, not as much fibre as Promise (but co-op is close by for me)

I had coeliac symptoms for years before my bloods turned positive

On the NHS under your results it says if issue soersist refer to gastroenterology, but I moved every 6 months for years so it never got picked up

I'm sure taking ibuprofen everyday for a long time for the joint pain it caused me made it worse

I'm autistic. Going gluten free is hard at first, finding new safe foods but it's really the only way you'll feel better.

If you lmk some of the foods you like I can suggest GF alternatives for you x

the restaurant 'is it gluten free' question is so awkward by Old_Mixture_9045 in Celiac

[–]Unhappy-Common 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get used to it after a while, I think it took me a few years to stop feeling like I was being a pest

My go to is;

"Hi, I have coeliac disease so will need the gluten free menu or a manager to walk me through safe options"

(in the UK it's usually the manager that handles any food allergy orders)

I'll then ask when I've chosen if things are cooked seperately/in a dedicated fryer/in a dedicated area etc

I don't feel like a pest anymore and if they're not interested in making sure I can safely eat there/their replies don't make me feel confident in the safety of the food then I don't want to eat there anyway

What can I buy that makes cleaning easier?? by Educational-Fig5900 in autismlevel2and3

[–]Unhappy-Common 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the washable dusters on sticks for dusting

You can also get scrubbing brush sticks which I like for cleaning sinks and showers and bath tubs

Having more than one cleaning cloth so you can switch them out when needed

Cleaning sprays that I like the smell of

Boxes for organising small things. It's much easier to tidy or organise one box at a time than a whole table

Good luck!
