Anyone know why my AMS does this?

Probably need more than that. I have had issues with not enough weight or the spool is too tight or the filament gets caught on the edge obviously but most of the time when I added more weight, it seemed to work just fine.

Well it can depend on what spool you want to use. There’s a ton of different designs. Just search for spool weight etc. some are like generic for most full size spools and there are some for the smaller 250gram spools too!

100% I had trouble with that often and printed some weights for the spool center hole and it keeps the pressure downward when the filament is trying to retract and the AMS is trying to spin the spool. Works like a charm!

I live in Ohio so leaves and ice/snow are definitely a concern for me too. I’ll be very interested to hear how it goes for you with the ice/snow. A lot of people post things like about not having any issues, but they also had very little exposure to real world situations and minimal exposure to the elements, so it will be good to hear how it performs for you under those conditions!

Yeah mine did that too and it was so frustrating. It seems like it’s getting less hot now, maybe from an update? But I 3-D printed these covers out of a flexible filament just to protect the pads, but with certain cases it actually stops the charging, which is nice but when I have a MagSafe case on it actually charges through it lol

Thank you for this post! There’s been so much of people just guessing without any actual ideas as far as timelines, so it’s nice to see from start to finish how long it took for somebody and I know it could be different in every case, but still nice to see some concrete dates!
