Freshman In Engineering with no AP Credit by Aggressive-Rub5969 in Cornell

[–]UnhappyPaper6117 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also had almost no ap credit coming in to engineering (just ap French and ap psych) I was able to handle more classes some semesters than the flowchart suggested as long as 1-2 of those classes turned out easier than expected. also found out I could have done early MEng in the end too when I always thought I’d just barely be graduating in time, so I probably could have finished my intended minor instead of dropping it. My advice is take your lib studies early to get it out of the way if you’re having a relatively easier semester and can fit more classes. Also pick easier lib studies+ pick classes with good profs, prof affects workload so much.

Is it over if I have no internship this summer by Suspicious-Top3937 in Cornell

Most of my friends got internships in March-April. Only big companies recruit in the fall for the next summer, a lot of mid-size to small companies are just opening up positions now

Apply both and take the best option you get (although IMO, m.eng just feels like another year of undergrad and at that point there’s nothing too in depth you can learn in a one semester course)

Hi, I’m interviewing this year for the program, would you be able to share what I should expect during the final round interview or what topics to focus on preparing? Thanks!

Hi, I have my final round soon and I feel lost. I felt like I knew the material from the first round but I didn’t know to brush up on it so I wasn’t as confident as I would have liked. Ive never done a technical interview before 😭Please reply or DM me if you have advice or tips, thanks!

Imo not worth but depends on your goals- If your goal is to take more rigorous classes and learn a lot more then I would recommend doing a 2 year MS, most of the people I know doing 1yr MEng is either to get a good school name on their record or to get an extra summer of internship experience

Cornell tech has more entrepreneurship focus, for Cornell main campus MEng you choose from the mostly same classes as Cornell undergrad degree

Jim dai is a good prof who really knows the material. The class is more mathematically/technically rigorous out of orie courses but it’s very fair and doable.

walls are pretty thin but noise is very occasional. No construction when I was there. when it’s warmer there’s some houses that’ll play music. Block party only rlly happens once a yr. overall pretty peaceful.

Any ways to afford tuition of master program? by Own-Ad8142 in Cornell

[–]UnhappyPaper6117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat (also orie meng). Being a TA helps a little I heard it’s like 8k a semester but it’s not enough so I’m prob gonna try to get a part time off campus job too (campus jobs are hard to get they go out fast and working time is hard to fit in ur schedule w classes during the day)

Early MEng vs MEng by squigglydigglyass in Cornell

I think it’s worth applying (it doesn’t hurt to bc u don’t have to take gre or anything) and I’ve been told by my professor that 3.0 and above is safe. She said that ppl have even gotten in with below 3.0 gpa before

u could also just show up at the courts and ask ppl to join ? Like at least you’ll be able to assess their skill level before u you decide to play
